Just called them up, said I don't need it.

Reason?, this waiting game let me evaluate my needs and I just came to the conclusion that I'm not ready to unload 8k on the custom build. Had Apple shipped this in the time frame they indicated, perhaps I'd be in a different mind set.

When I spoke with the business department yesterday, they now indicated an April ship date. I ordered this early January. Received all the email updates about the shipping delay and a call from a CSR last week about the 5-7 business days. Now April? I'm just kind of pissed at Apple at the moment.

I'll let this first release go out, and perhaps in late 2014 I'll jump back in, or wait till the next version is available...as long as the waiting game ends.

I'm fine with this decision.

canceling now only means you have to wait even longer. as for a revision 2 model you might never get it, a lot of us thought we would never get this one... maybe get a cheaper build? can you work with stock configurations? if so you can have one at your door step the very next day if your in the states.

The way this is playing out, there's always likely to be a wait. If you want to get one in late 2014, I'd get your order back in the queue next month. ;)

I cancelled two online orders with Apple and subsequently bought from a reseller who had plenty of stock. Lovely machine, no regrets!

of course, if you are getting edu or gov pricing, you are stuck waiting for Apple..

My words were clear and unambiguous. When I purchased my nMP from MacMall, I'm fairly certain that by not paying sales tax I did not violate the law.

Good decision. It's a joke of a computer anyways. 450 watt PSU? Ha! Two year old GPU technology?! Ha!!

Your custom build will be better and less expensive and more upgradeable over the long run. Good choice.

"Lack of" - or "the ability to illegally evade"?

The sales tax loopholes on online sales need to be closed.

Huh? Why?

The PSU is probably overkill for the nMP. How is the video card "two year old technology"? Post here in three years how that custom build or hackintosh is doing and compare to the nMP.

seems like Apple will not be able to keep the promises for March shipment.

since the launch date of new xeon e5 v3 is around the corner, I may cancel my order and wait for the next generation if the order is pushed back to May or June...

Maybe overkill for you. Go get a Mini, buddy. Talk to MacVidCards about the ridiculousness of the the GPU's. If you're not keeping up with the tech aspects on here there's no point talking out of your ass about things you don't know

How about you answer the questions and not behave like someone stole your manhood.

"Lack of" - or "the ability to illegally evade"?

The sales tax loopholes on online sales need to be closed.

In Minnesota, those loopholes have been closed.

I own my own business. If I purchase anything online for my business, and I did not have to pay sales tax (e.g. the monitor I bought from BHPhoto last year, office supplies purchased online through various retailers, and many different books from Amazon), I have to file a special tax return with the state, and with it, payment of sales tax for all of those items. No tax loophole for me (of course, I still get to deduct these items from income, and the sales tax I paid with them), but then again, it isn't a "loophole" if I am using it for business purposes, which I am.

Illegal or unenforceable; Just about every state (if not all) legally require you to pay sales tax on things you purchase online, but it isn't worth enforcing since you have to self report the purchase, and who in the world would do that.

True but not for states with no sales tax. Oregon, my state, has no sales tax. I have no obligation to pay any sales tax unless i make the purchase while in that state.

That's pretty much the law in every state for everybody in the US. Trick is no one ever fills out that form.

Why aren't you taking your own advice?

From what I've seen of your posts, you are not at all knowledgeable.

lol, I got financing and a business discount when I ordered my nMP, but had to pay sales tax. Have a good friend in OR and seriously thought about shipping the thing to him to avoid the tax, but decided it would be too much trouble. Plus then shipping it to me would have been costly too.

You probably should've waited a bit, April is a date for NEW orders. I've ordered mid-January, got "5-7" call last week, and it was shipped yesterday.

Needs and wants

I sincerely believe that business, productivity, ROI, etc. should dictate whether one buys a piece of hardware that immediately decreases in value.

Good luck!

Gimme a break. The states are overstepping their bounds by claiming a right to every purchase I make, even if it doesn't happen in their state. It's a big gov money grab.

I think I may start a business where I act as a "assistant" and make physical purchases in a state that doesn't collect sales tax, and then ship it to the one making the purchase, to get around these money grabs.
