I Just Got Some iPhone News

Hi All! I just got back from the Maine Mall , AT&T store. I talked to a manager about the contract of the iPhone. I expected to hear the same old story of I dont know, or cant tell you due to confidenciality... but this time he told me there was NO DIFFERENCE in price if you don't sighn anything. He told me I could walk in pay my $600 and go with or without a contract!!! SWEET P.S I have no reason to make this up. I am 16, and just a iPhone geek!!!Good Luck getting your iPhone:) Todd P.
 
You should have gotten him to put it all in writing. Then at least you could hold him to it on launch day.
 
I am so looking forward to the fact that I am not getting an iPhone on Launch Day or anytime too soon. I have a great phone that wasn't cheap and I expect to use it awhile longer. My contract doesn't run out till March and that will be about perfect timing to see how well the iPhone does and what problems it might have. And I would prefer a 16GB rev. B or whatever is available once they upgrade it. Now a brand new Mac I really want, so release that damn phone so you can upgrade your friggin desktops already. The iMac and Mac Pros are overdue!!!

the point is, if they put it in writing, and something changed, they would lose their job or whatever. thats why most of them are not telling anyone about the contracts till now. they were not sure before. This was the manager, and i had talked to him before. he told me the same old b.s. but I think he told me tonight because A. he has new rock solid info, or B. he knows i have asked before.

Dont just reject my info. I am just telling you what the guy told me. Plus I dont have a newer computer right now, so I am busting my nuts posting this with a crappy (for a mac) imac OLD SCHOOL indigo. so please take me seriously.

I'm not necessarily sure how you having an old G3 indigo iMac has anything to do with the validity of your story...but if it works I'll be using that line more often

I dont know how anyone can take you seriously. It is just highly doubtful that a lowly store manager of an AT&T store would know details about iPhone or its contract length. He can make stuff up, I'm sure he thinks he knows what he is talking about. I think that if real contract info was out there, we would see some kind of email or something else that could possibly verify the truthfulness. I'm sorry, but one manager saying one thing has to compete with all the other managers nationwide who are saying different things. Basically it's not law until it's on Apple's website or coming out of SJ's mouth for me. But, who knows, he could be right. (But I doubt it)

I saw a Unicorn today. For rizzle. I am busting my nuts posting this on a real live indigo iMac G3 guys so you gotta believe me, seriously.
 
Steve just told me via phone that the iPhone is just a big joke to cover up the new 300GB shuffles coming out soon.

But, it very possible this is true. That what one guy at my local store GUESSED, another woman told a couple in their the local Apple Store would get it a month after the AT&T store, and it launched at 6AM(this was when the 6PM was public knowlegde, and the other reps knew 6PM too), and the guy I was working worth said it point blank "We don't know anything about it other then its launching at 6PM on June 29th, and will cost 499+599" A lot of them are guessing whats going to happen, and saying it like its a fact. You should have hoped for a Rep who would tell you the truth.

Same story from my local Apple store "We don't really know anything more then the public does"
 
It could be true, maybe the 2 year contract gives you a hella cheap data plan that cannot be dropped?
 
Steve sent me a myspace mesage and told me he's going to shave his head on the 29 and paint the word iPhone on his head! and he said they are working on putting Final Cut Pro 6 on the phone.

I am happy to hear your great news and now I will camp out in line to get one. I wasn't sure, everyone had such wrong information but you spoke to that guy...I'm stoked! Thanks Toddp and here's hoping you get a new computer for your diligence in getting this very valid and absolutely correct information. Everyone else should cut the kid some slack because it's obvious he's right. $600 with or without a contract sounds like standard fare for AT&T.

:confused: That's funny, I thought this was MacRumors. Among other things it is, presumably, for posting rumours. What's wrong with toddp73 passing on what the manager said? The rumour may not be correct but was posted in good faith. Some of the replies seem a bit unkind to me.

Yes, but we take these with a grain of salt. A) he's a newbie. It's kind of odd to have newbies with Earth-shattering breaking news. B) He told us to take him seriously because he's posting on an old iMac. That's basically saying Apple is coming out with Octo-core MBP's with 16GB of RAM with a dual HD-DVD/Blu-Ray drive in it, and you should take this seriously because I'm posting this on an iBook G4.

Yes, we're mean, but for good reason. This comes out on here every day. We're tired of it.

I agree, I'm all about rumors. The more the merrier is my belief, but yes the language of the OP leads me to immediately question the validity, plus I have a general distrust of carrier managers for some reason. Perhaps because I worked at a place that sold them once.

If someone's posting something I don't like I just ignore it. It's the quickest way to make someone go away. Maybe I'm just a softie! :eek:

Agreed, it seems many people fail to understand the concept of if you've nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.

Ok... but I'm posting with a brand-new Core 2 Duo, 2GB ram Latitude D620... running VISTA. :eek: Have some respect for those who really have bad systems!
