i was lucky enough to benefit from the Argos £800 glitch that got me a 2021 12.9 (256) IPad Pro, although I jumped at the deal as I gleefully picked it up I was worried I might not use it.

Then along came a cheap deal on the Magic keyboard and since I got that my MacBook Pro has been opened a handful of times. I generally only use my MacBook for stuff I am too lazy to set my iPad up for. The magic keyboard has changed things for me and while normally they are incredibly overpriced, if you can get a deal on one then it might change things for you.

Next time I would get the same size ipad but I’d probably want the cellular version. Yeah I can hotspot from my iPhone but it’s a faff and if I’m somewhere I can’t charge my iPhone (rare these days I know) I’d like to be able to not run that down.

There‘s almost an argument for me replacing both my MBP and IPad Pro with a MacBook Air, except I actually use a few apps and some app games that I find it incredibly useful to just swipe and play instead of picking up my phone.

Would I like the Ipad to be able to dual boot as a MacBook, sure it would be great. But like different profiles I doubt we will ever see it.

At least for me, the additional expense is offset by the fact that the hardware is now so good I can go longer between upgrades.

I think most users tend to have longer upgrade cycles just because the hardware is so mature these days. Which in return ups the prices as Apple needs to reap the same profits.

For me, the price increase came first so I decided I'll keep my iPads longer. 😛

My original plan (if prices had remained at the $1-1.2K mark) was to upgrade every year alternating between 10/11" and 13" class. 😅

I agree.. It the same with mobiles phones no need to up upgrade them these days for 3 to 5 years

Another thing that stops people upgrading for example is when things like a 2018 11" ipad pro looks exactly same as a 2021 11" ipad pro...LOL

Hey, in fairness, the Porsche 911 has had the same shape for decades. Good design language doesn’t age much.
