Like the title said, I know it's a bit early but what devices do you think will/will not get the future update and why? Personally I think the 5/5C are out. 5S and on will get the update. Not so sure on iPads yet. I'd like to see my 5C get one more update but then again I don't want any performance issues. Opinions welcome

Everyone dogs on the 5/5C. Im running iOS 10.2 on the 5C and have no complaints other than a very slight keyboard lag which doesn't really bother me. I am surprised to hear the 6 Plus is running poorly on iOS 10 :/
iOS 10 on the 6 is dire. My battery is totally f**ked, constant lag and crashing, reboot takes legitimately 5+ minutes. It's not even worth it. The only reason I'm still putting up with it is because I just recently quit my job to return to studying and can't afford to buy a new iPhone.
LOL my warranty ran out a long time ago. This thing is 3 years old now. I don't pay for Apple Care because it's mostly a waste of money. Never, ever needed it.
No way. They're not going to replace a 3 year old device that's out of warranty, and I'm certainly not paying for them to give me another crappy 6 Plus.
If I'm being honest, if Apple don't deliver with next year's iPhone, I'll have to have a serious think about my future with iPhone in general...
6 Plus had underpowered GPU for such a big display. Same situation as the first retina iPad (iPad 3). Hot power hungry machine. The S versions are usually better.
11 will be the first version 64-bit only. So:
iPhone 5s and up.
iPad Air 1 and up.
iPad mini 2 and up.
iPod touch 6th gen.
iPad Pro all.
And to one member: iPhone 4s has been dropped in iOS 9. They don't receive iOS 10 updates at all.

The iPhone 6 Plus was released only 2y3mo ago so I'm not sure how you have a three year old one. If you have restored and setup as new and you are still having performance issues, it wouldn't hurt to bring it in. There is always a chance they can offer something for you, even out of warranty.
My 5s runs iOS 10 considerably better than your iPhone 6, I would say the fault is with your individual handset not iOS 10.
Saying that I'll probably not take it up to iOS 11 next year
Any reason why you think the iPad mini 2 won't get the update? It has the same specs as the iPad mini 3 and the iPhone 5s after all.
iOS 9 might have been an exception for Apple, perhaps because they were specifically aiming for performance improvements in the first place. The iPhone 5C might be the saving grace for the iPhone 5.
However, I do think that 64-bit support will be the compelling reason for Apple to drop support for iPhone 5/5C and iPad 4th generation. Apple has already decided last year that developers are allowed to drop 32-bit support from apps and Apple now even warns users when they are running old 32-bit apps. The writing is on the wall in that regard.

This year is likely to be the year they make iOS 64-bit only. So that means it will run on everything iOS 10 runs on except for iPad 4 (chunkier one before the iPad Air) with its A6X and the iPhone 5/5c with its A6.
It would be more interesting and realistic to ask about iOS 20.
I'm guessing iOS 11 will likely drop the remaining 32-bit devices. There are a lot of 64-bit exclusives and feature limitations and so far my iPhone centric "pattern" theory has been accurate. +1 extra version for S models (and similarly specced devices) than previous. I'm more curious about iOS 12... there has to be a limit to how far they're willing to go. Plus A7 and A8 are pretty close in capability.

Iphone 5S will be compatible with iOS 11. And probably will get an extra version iOS 12. The limiting factor is the 1gb of ram .(probably IOS 11 will slow it,and if gets iOS 12 it will be like iOS 9 on a 4s)
The IPhone 6 will be compatible with iOS 13, however it will be the last major iOS version for iPhone 6
