This is nice info to get, I've always wanted to try Linux!
It really is quite nice and a polished, modern experience I think. Easy to get up and running and use. I think the only thing that is kind of weird for someone considering transitioning as osx continues to age is manually understanding and creating needed partitions especially if you want to have more than just ubuntu (ubuntu+macos or ubuntu+macos+w10 etc.) on a single drive. This (in my situation at least) is probably just over all Linux inexperience. Once I understand this better, I'm sure it will be a breeze - just one of those discomforts growing into a new OS option. Over all I am pretty happy with Ubuntu. I would like to give Mint a try as folks here have spoken highly of its gui.

Linux Mint is my go to Linux distribution, it is Ubuntu based, so it follows Ubuntu release schedule. I dislike Ubuntu GUI and I feel like Linux mint's simple UI is better looking.
