I can't think of anything I really want that a jailbreak provides anymore. Maybe openssh, mobile finder, etc but I don't really care anymore at this point.

Do you know that's a stock feature now? I also loved that tweak until apple added it to iOS. But apple improved on it as well sice you can create an endless amount of shortcuts. I use them daily. Extremely useful feature. And heavily slept on too!

I took it one step further in addition to just shortcuts. I added a bunch of swear words and slang to these shortcuts since I use these words a lot in text messages. But instead of making it an actual shortcut, I just entered the entire word in both the shortcut field as well as the word field. This way when I am typing any of these added words, the behavior is identical to the stock autocorrect feature. As I start to type any of my added words they automatically appear just like every other word I the dictionary. It's a very useful tip!

How do you get the email thing to work? And I'm a bit confused as to what you mean by the added words automatically appearing

I did it. I upgraded to iOS 7. I've only had it for a couple of hours but so far the only tweak I miss is Zephyr. I find myself bringing up the control panel just about every time I try to close an app now. haha.

I don't have any regrets. I am getting a 5S next week so I would be forced to lose my jb anyways.

Here's to a quick jailbreak!

My top must have packages also.
I ordered a 5S but not anxious to start using it till there's a JB available.

I got my 5s in the mail on Wednesday. I'm not quite sure why everyone freaked out over the bright stock icons. 80% of the stock icons I just place into a "utilities" type folder. Outside a few stock apps like phone, messages, and App Store, everything else on my phone is 3rd party apps. The springboard looks pretty much how it did for many years. It definitely has more of a pop and certainly is brighter but not nearly as bad as the original pics since the vast shorty of apps are 3rd party and still have normal icons.

Having said that, I'm absolutely loving iOS 7. In just a few days I already know this is by far my favorite and greatest iOS. If I had to wait a few months for a jailbreak I'm perfectly fine with that. I will say, right off the bat I miss 4 tweaks that heavily impacted my UX in previous iOS's.

I really need zephyr, bitesms for QC/QR, swipeselection biiiigggg time, and webscrollian. Those 4 tweaks I used just about every single time I unlocked my device.

Have you tried 7 yet? I'm extremely happy with this device and iOS.

Edit: the other big thing I miss from being jailbroken is an up to date modified hosts file. I've been using those for so many years now, I didn't realize just how bad ads have gotten on my mobile device! Wow I'm shocked at the insane number of ads lol. Looking forward to an iOS 7 jailbreak that's for sure!

what kind of ads do you get rid of by modifying your hosts file?

Well I can't wait for the jailbreak. First thing I'd do is speed up the UI. Then change those ugly icons. Next change the whiteness of ios 7 to a light gray. And hopefully someone will tweak the lockscreen to have something useful when sliding it left.

IOS7 has got so close to my previous JB on IOS6 I can almost live without it.

If they allowed XBMC in the app store, then I wouldn't JB.

Between Notification Centre and Control Centre, the things I'd normally have in SB Settings is covered.

I used to make occasional use of MyWi but now that I have had to go with 5GB of data, I get tethering anyway.

My 3G doesn't seem to be as necessary as it used to be before 4G and LTE arrived. More sites seem to default to high quality output on cellular data.

AutoResponder 2.... I might miss that in certain situations, but it's not all that important.

After going over everything on my Cydia app list, I keep coming back to iBlacklist as the only thing that I'm really missing, and for which functionality I would still jailbreak.

FYI musclenerd said iOS 7.0.2 is safe to update to and that it does not close any of the jailbreak exploits. Wasn't sure if this was the best thread but I didn't see any reason to stat a new one since this has been so popular.

Normally I don't update until a jailbreak is released but since I'm loving iOS 7 and musclenerd said its safe, I'm gonna update tonight.

Anyone else gonna update or are you guys in a holding pattern just to be extra safe?

WOW
Be careful with a comment like that!

That is ONLY valid for people already on 7.0!!

It goes without saying that if you're currently jailbroken, avoid 7.x.x. (Same if you're on iOS5 and use redsn0w's iOS5 re-restore feature)

Good point TriJet. I sometimes forget how necessary it is to include every single detail. I obviously was referring to people with A5+ devices on iOS 7 (I was actually specifically speaking to 5s owners), but I shouldn't have forgotten to mention all the requirements for this information to be valuable and actionable. My bad. Thank you for catching that! I really need to stop sneaking posts in at work and just focus on my job, since it's so demanding already. No need for the extra distractions.

Thanks bro!

This is the first time I don't feel severely crippled without a jailbreak. Of course when there is one I'll be jailbroken in no time. There are still many useful tweaks and certainly will be some new ones this time around. If apple included quick reply I suppose I could "live" without a jb. They have done a good job at adding the basics, although there isn't enough customization in the stock features like we are used to. I will certainly try to stay lean this time around. I forgot how stable and smooth stock can be. Haven't felt the need to respring/reboot every once in a while. However that may just be iOS 7?

Reasons to Jailbreak:

f.lux
zephyr
iblacklist
messages
spot lock or something similar to lock with

if ios had these... I wouldn't need to jailbreak again.

Never thought I'd say this, but I wonder if I'm the only one thinking I may not JB iOS7 (and I've JB all my phones since the 3GS). It's so much nicer release than I thought it would be. A very, very slick UI. Yes, the icons suck, but I can live with that.

I can't help but think how many ways a Jail Break would screw up this complex UI. I think it's probably safe to assume many of the existing JB progs will be broken in iOS7 for a long, long time. Certainly those affecting the UI.

Anyone else thinking of staying put with iOS7?

Yes, probably until Jan 14 when the iOS JB is released.

Things are slowly looking better for *not* jailbreaking.

As I get used to quickly changing how DND is configured, and in conjunction with a cheap App called iWhitelist, I can see getting used to this long term, without jailbreaking and without iBlacklist.

I cannot really recommend iWhitelist to everybody because it provides very little extra functionality to DND settings. What it basically allows you to do is create a white list inside your Contacts list so that you're allowing a relatively small number of people to ring straight through to you.

You could basically do the same thing on your iMac by creating a Group inside your Contacts list, and then just use your DND settings to allow only that Group after your iPhone has synchronized with your Contacts.

The sole advantage that jailbreaking + iBlacklist would allow you is that in that case you would still be able to use the automatic settings of DND so that at 10:00 PM you would still fall into a mode where only your short list of favourites would get through to you. iBlacklist handles everything without your being in DND mode, so the extra manipulations at 10:00 PM wouldn't be necessary.

Without iBlacklist and the jailbreak, I still have to remember to switch manually from the longer white list to the shorter list of people who might need to reach me at night in an emergency.

But...all in all...I think I am very close to never jailbreaking now. Just that one minor inconvenience left of having to switch the DND settings manually at 10:00 PM.

You're giving up all kinds of neat applications like AutoResponder 2, but, in the end, are they really necessary? I mean, do we really need to reply to someone's iMessage that we haven't seen their iMessage yet?
