Other I need help deciding what iPhone to get!

Sorry for not having replied. I’ve been caught up in work! It seems like I can extend the current plan I have til September when the new phones comes. I haven’t been able to get a hold on the customer service though to ask them. If that is the case I think I’ll most likely wait til September and buy an 8 then when the prices have gone down.

Again about the notch... for ME I just can’t see myself having a phone with a notch. I’ve tried my friends X and for me that watches a lot of video it wouldn’t work for me. I don’t wanna crop or zoom in. I want to be able to have the whole screen filled without losing any picture.

I think like someone said, in the future there probably won’t be any notch. I’m also a fan of the Touch ID. I often just put my finger on the phone to unlock it without lifting it up for e.g. the technology to have Touch ID under the screen is out there so who knows.

Anyways, iPhone X is a first gen product. And first gen products are never the best. It will probably become a lot better with time. But now I could not see myself having that phone. If they choose to have a little bezel instead of the notch or let us have a software that filled the gaps I’d buy X in an instance.

Not sure why you’re being dismissive to the OP and telling someone to get over the notch, when they clearly stated:

...Although, I was looking at things from a non-Plus Size users POV. Seeing as the OP has a history of using Plus sized phones, then I may have misread things here. Lack of full screen, uncropped videos may be a legit deal breaker for Plus users rejecting the X.

Not necessarily. The iPhone 8 is a considerable purchased for the OP, which will easily be supported through iOS for likely 4/5 years. I am also willing to believe the notch will dissipate and/or Apple will have some other type of hardware functionality concealing the sensors and Face ID hardware under the display, eliminating the notch altogether.

The OP also stated they prefer the build of the 7 series & has little need for the features the 8 has, hence why I suggested sticking with it.

Guess that may also depend on content - if you're just watching YT vids, & you don't mind cropping, then full screen viewing should be fine.

Movies are another matter though & I get how some won't like the notch impeding, but it's a bit hypocritical because content is also cropped when in full-screen, so why complain about the notch when you've got at least 2 sides cutting out parts of the video..

Again, I'm coming from a non-plus users point of view.

Even though the 8 has a glass back it’s way less slippery than the 7, unless you get a JB.

the notch on the x just annoys me , it's so un apple

also the 8 plus has a bigger useful screen to me - i like the width

setting it up has been a bit of a pain - all that security stuff , but the actual phone is beautiful

most amazing thing is it doesn't look as enormous as i feared , wish i'd bought a 6 plus instead of the stock 6 a few year ago now...

i ordered a 6 plus in black from vodajoke years ago and what did i they give me ???

a white 6 with gold back...

bought direct from apple this time , delivered next day for £7 !!!

The stealth look. Mine I got yesterday is 8 plus silver 256gb but will swap with my wife space grey tomorrow, I have the charcoal grey leather on my X but will get a black for the plus.
The grey has grip how’s the black?

But as you can see the Apple notch is 3x!! Bigger than the one from Huawei. And an easy fix from Apple would be to just have a setting that creates a software based bezel. There are android phones with that and that simple thing would make me buy iPhone X

So some bad news... apparently the staff had misinformed me. I can’t keep my iPhone 7. I’ll have to return it or pay a fee that is like going and buying a new 7 today. I had decided to keep my 7 and get the iPhone X plus when it comes, but I guess I won’t be able to do that now. Not sure what to do.
