If Apple just gave us a true Finder and opened the file system to be on par with regular MacOS, that would really be awesome. In some ways, I like the whole SEND TO feature. With a little more work it could be pretty good. Mostly, it boils down to every app moving forward and supporting these features.
For Example, PDF Expert believes it is the file repo. Even though it goes to iCloud, it goes to a folder in iCloud specifically for PDF Expert. I would rather that they update it to just allow me to traverse the icloud files app and let me save it where I want in iCloud.
How I get around this (which is developers laziness and nothing else because now iOS supports saving files from any app to anywhere on iCloud Drive) how I get around the third party apps who have not yet joined the ‘party’ (like what I did there??) I use an app called File Browser which is fully compatible with iOS Files as well. On my iCloud Drive, in the File Browser folder, This is where I have created all my user files and folders. Kind of like in Mac OS think of this as the user folder. Now how I get around these apps which don’t yet support directly saving is to share - open in app - file Browser - then navigate to my file Browser folder on iCloud where I want to save. Sounds complicated but in real life isn’t. If an app doesn’t yet work with either iOS Files Or share menu, then well it’s probably an outdated app and ill look for a newer app but you can always move the file from the apps folder to your preferred one manually in Files anyway.
