I would much rather use a high end Sony like the Xperia 1 instead of my iPhone X. But I'm locked into the Apple ecosystem so switching would just lead to irritations. I wish Apple would just make iMessages and other iCloud features and apps work on Android. I like the integration with my Mac and Apple TV. I just don't like the iPhone hardware and OS.

I’m genuinely not trying to start another fight but just wanted to share this recent article on the Verge from Dieter Bohn, as much if it perfectly explains why so many of us (in the US) prefer using iMessage and have a hard time switching fully to Android. And it further exemplifies Google’s failure to take advantage of their position of strength with an Android equivalent.

Why I turned on iMessage
iMessages is the one thing I actually miss about iOS.

I don't miss iMessage at all. I quite like iMessage and think it's a great app/service. But I don't miss it either.

The only thing of the Apple ecosystem I'm keeping for the foreseeable future is the Apple TV 4K. I have a good sized iTunes library of movies and TV shows and I think the device is the best on the market.

You answered why your wish in the second bold statement will not come true anytime soon—with the first bold statement. ;)

WhatsApp is great. All my contacts use it whether they have iPhones or android phones.

Precisely this. iMessage lies dormant on my iPhone.
[doublepost=1561796355][/doublepost]Just checked my app purchase history and I’ve been using what’s app since 2010.

how did you know that?

Started a group chat in my family on whatsapp and I must say, it is very nice and capable.

Makes blending Android And iPhone users together seamless.
WhatsApp is incredibly popular here in Brazil, everybody uses it, and nobody uses SMS messages. Sending SMS used to be a paid service, so not much people used it. And while most people here use Android, many use iPhones as well. WhatsApp works well with both.

The problem with WhatsApp is that you cannot retrieve your chat history when changing from an Android phone to an iPhone and vice-versa. This is because WhatsApp on Android saves the chat history exclusively on Google Drive, while WhatsApp for iOs saves it exclusively on iCloud, making it impossible to retrieve when changing the platform. This is the major shortcoming, and they should change it.
