I would not think of checking if it was not for this thread. Mine is for a few hours now and it definitely feels cooler than before. Oh and I don't hear a fan even when I am right next to it.

nah...hot still...I'd be pissed if it wasnt though...
I use :apple:tv to make microwave popcorn.....so I want it burning hot:cool:

We cut our heating bill 50% by mounting our Apple TV inside the heating ductwork. :D:D:D:D:D

Joking of course - I know my :apple:TVgets warm to hot, but as long as it plays well I do not concern myself with it.
 
WOW, this is my deciding factor to upgrade. I was reluctant, and I did complain to Apple about the heat...

They probably in the new OS upped the speed of the CPU fan to help it run cooler...
There is no fan. The Apple TV is cooled by way of convection.
