Yeah makes me think I should of gone for 512GB

But it's enough for now. It's only if I download movies on my sky Q app that can drain the storage.
So, it's movies that takes up most of your storage? I've never downloaded a movie on my iPad. I prefer to stream them for free on Kodi, and if I want to watch a tv shows I can always go on wachseries.

I think when iOS 11 comes out, the App store will have tons of really cool Augmented reality apps. If you got the 256 GB model, you will probably wish you got the 512 GB model instead regardless of the screen size.

I don't find augmented reality apps interesting because you're still looking at a screen. It reinds me of PokéMon Go but with better graphics. I'd be more interesting to bring it out of the screen.

.. and the 10.5 ASK is *****! How do people enjoy using it? It hurts so bad to use, and I kept typing on the wrong keys. Who ever created the 10.5 ASK must have been really mad at the world.

I have big hands and long fingers. I find typing on both the 9.7 and 10.5 ASKs to be pure joy. It doesn't hurt me and I have arthritis in my fingers. I think whoever designed the keyboards is a genius. I love the ASK and that was the deciding factor in me buying an iPad in the first place.

It sounds like the ASK is not the keyboard for you.

That would be nice to project the image so you don't need the screen. Imagine going a football game and point your iPhone to the field to project a player running to stack the quarterback. He throws it away not realizing it was a projection from a fan in the bleachers. The quarter back gives you the finger after the play and you reply "Dude! I didn't need to look at my screen."

If i don't get to experience that in my lifetime then I'll be extremely dissapointed! Would've been so cool

I'm not from the U.S. sadly.
Then there is only one option left for you:
Buy both!

Bit of a joke of course, but I did do so I bought the 1st gen 12.9 the second it came out. Complete with keyboard and pencil. And I did again so with the 9.7.
But the 9.7 was always “just not it”. The keyboard was too small to type blind. The screen was a little bit too small when using it as a notepad with the Pencil. It wasn’t a slouch yet it always felt slower, charging, transferring data, downloading apps.
Now I’ve upgraded the 9.7 to the 10.5 and it feels like tiny increments on several parts. Screen a bit bigger? Not that big of a deal. Promotion? I’ve lived without it for decades. Faster processor? Every year.
The only thing that was a clear improvement for me from the start was the (almost) full size keyboard.
And yet I’ve now used it for some time and it’s much better then the sum of the tiny improvements.
Only minor points are that split view is a little bit less nice/useful and the sound on the 12.9 is IMHO still noticeable better.

So to sum it up: I’ve got the 12.9 and the 10.5.
the 12.9 is stationary on my desk for 90% of the time, with the 10.5 as notepad/reference/search engine next to it.
The 10.5 is my go-anywhere device. I can have it with me always, it is just big enough to do anything I need, it syncs all documents and apps like the 12.9 and it’s so nice to read on it.

I'd love to have that kind of luxury. Obviously, i want the 12.9-inch, but I get worried about portability. I'm definitely not keeping my Air as a go-anywhere device because it's tragic at this point. I cannot multitask on it. Gonna try sell it. If im lucky I'll might be able to earn 1-200$ bucks from it. It barely has any value left, unless you're a parent who is looking for a cheap device for your 3-7 year old.

I go back and forth myself. The 12.9 will excel in certain respects, and in other respects the 10.5 is better.

I'm beyond my 14 day window, and I chose to be content. I could be wrong, but the 12.9" is better on a desk then in a hand, that is, I'll get less hand fatigue from holding the 10.5 for hours then the 12.9. Traveling, seems very nice with the 10.5 and I feel its better in that aspect.

Each iPad has its pros and cons, my recommendation is to be content with what you have, and don't worry about what you might be missing out. Life is too short, so don't sweat the small stuff :)

12.9 can be portable though i often use it without a case or cover on the sofa just browsing. Granted it's easily on the 10.5 but its doable for a certain amount of time on your lap.

Just get more stuff done quicker with the keyboard.

BestBuy did run a promo recently that paid $150 on any older iPad in a trade-in for a new one.

+1

Couldn’t have said it better even if I tried!!! Forget FOMO. Enjoy the iPad that you have and if it is too slow or has some damage, squeeze your budget to buy a new one.

iPad mini, new iPad 2017, one of the new iPPs, a refurbished unit from Apple. They will give you plenty of useful life to payback your $$$

I dont think the 12.9-inch will be much of an issue in bed, because I'm always exhausted of having to look down on it, even when laying with my head on the pillow. It'll be nice to let my neck and eyes tilt up a bit. It's the traveling that makes me nervous. But thanks for the encouraging push :)

I have the 9.7 and 10.5. The 12.9 is just LARGE and I am a pretty big guy. IMO, the 12.9 is OK for a desk or around the house but as soon as I leave the house it's too big. Out of the 9.7 and 10.5 I think the 10.5 is perfect.

I would never ever ever touch the 10.5" mini iPad.

I see the 12.9 as a normal, but small size. Actually it could be a little bigger imo.

The 10.5" is so cramped that multitasking does not matter on it. Someone should pay me to use it everyday. NO. Wont touch it. Dont get me started on the keyboard for the 10.5".

I just wish there was a full on-screen keyboard option for it. I find the ASK for 10.5 difficult, and I have thin long fingers so I should be able to type on it easily, but i just can't.

Finally someone who hates the 10.5 keyboard, too! I wish the 10.5 had the same on-screen keyboard as the 12.9 because the physical is a worse experience for me. Regarding multitask, I honestly think that multitasking should be limited to 2 app on 10.5. Its pointless to have 3, since there's barely any room for all of them.

Yep. Ordered a 2nd gen 12.9" and would probably have bought a 14-15" with less bezels if available. Honestly, the 12.9" is very small and portable. Put in perspective, laptops are way bigger at 13" with a bigger charger and less battery life. To say that 12.9" is not portable I dont quite understand. It is a very small screen size and the only one with an acceptable keyboard, which is VERY important.

At this point I dont understand why anyone would go with the 10.5" except price, with the 12.9" being that portable. The 10.5" is heavier and bigger than the 9.7", without bringing anything to the table. Not even an acceptable keyboard.

I'm struggling with the iPad pro but will end up buying this weekend and just enjoying it's limited usage. I want the new features and such from iOS 11. My frustration with the iPad hasn't changed since it was first released. I wanted a full OSX experience on a tablet device. I love the idea of working in xCode or other Mac specific programs in an tablet environment. I've always felt they could get us there but have chosen a different route. So when I use the iPad I'm stuck with note taking and basic productivity and nothing else from a business perspective. I hope with iOS 11 that changes a bit (haven't used yet). So I'm giving up (again) on my dream of a true mac tablet device and just living with a gussied up regular iPad. :D

I know how you feel. That's why I've stuck with my Air for almost 4 years. I kept telling myself "Apple ain't getting my money unless its macOS. Not buying an upscaled iPhone" but with iOS 11 I see it's potential to become a in-between device. However, I will not be using it for school. I think it's naive for those who does because the microsoft apps takes forever to load. I gotta be quick when taking notes.

As far as iPad "portability" I think it's the image of being able hold it in your hand on the way to work/class/friend/event/trip without having to get it down/out your bag. Personally, it's a drag to me to pull up my laptop during class. I dont even wanna look at it at home.

Chill. I'm not intending to belittle anyone. I'm just saying that streaming isn't practical in several valid use cases, so a high capacity iPad can still be justified.

I do think though that the use cases for lots of local storage is deminshing quickly with the rise of cloud services. However, I generally buy more than I think I need, and the pricing of the current Pro models made the jump from 64 to 256 kind of a no-brainer. I doubt that I will ever come close to using 256, but it is nice to have to not worry about what to store locally and what not to.
