I recently picked up a 12” 800MHz iBook G4 in near mint condition. Unfortunately, after what I thought was a very careful wipe-down, the trackpad no longer works.

With the top case loose, I did try to re-seat the trackpad connector and gently apply pressure to different areas along the ribbon cable, but to no avail.

Are there any tips and tricks to reviving one of these or am I screwed unless I replace the whole top case? It would be a real shame to have to do so as this top case is otherwise mint.
