I am preparing my macbook for my new iPhone 4s. Got Lion loaded and iCloud all set up.

I have my older iPhone calendar and contacts sync'd with the computer and iCloud.

But for some reason i cannot get the calendar to go to iCloud! I see it there in iCal but my calendar in iCloud is blank.

Anyone know how to merge or transfer the iCal to iCloud without needing to input all the info line by line?

When the new phone comes I am hoping to just sync it up and have all my calendar stuff there on my mac, phone and iCloud.

HELP!!!

Yesterday, neither contacts nor calendar worked for me. But today, when I go to iCloud.com, everything is there. I guess there was just too much traffic and the cloud couldn't keep up with all the syncing need. Be patient. :)

Go into preferences in iCal and check that you have an iCloud account set-up in accounts. Mine wasn't set up in here the first time and I couldn't push things to the cloud from iCal.

Thanks for your help. iCloud is listed as an account in iCal but no information is getting pushed.
Is there a preference or something I am missing to get the info pushed???

I have almost the same problem, my private calendars do sync and works fine but not my public ones. Anyone know what causing the problem?

Answer

I have the answer guys. What is it is that your default calendar (in preferences) has to be set to "calendar" (or whatever) under "iCloud" and not "on my mac" I was having the same problem and it's like this by default. And now it makes sense why the calendar event you made on the mac didn't show up in iCloud (the website) or your phone (or iPad or touch), because the new event was made to the "on my mac" calendar and not the iCloud calendar. (which is stupid because how are people supposed to know that. It would be a justified assumption that all calendar event "on my mac" should be automatically the same as "in iCloud", but whatever)

I just migrated and I seem to have lost access to subscribed calendars. Anyone know how to fix this. I need to be able to see these calendars across all my devices and now it's messed up. It only shows up on my home Mac.

lost ical subscriptions

I am having the same problem...my mac's iCal subscriptions are not syncing up with iCloud. And yes, I have the subscription under the iCal iCloud account.

Anybody get theirs to work?

Additionally, I can't open my preferences when in iClouds calendar view...anybody else have that problem?

There'a been a lot of comments about this, apparently subscribed calendars don't show in the iCloud calendar. Some reason on my iPhone they still do, maybe because I sync'd it beforehand. Hopefully they get this fixed

That doesn't make sense at all. You can still add calendar entries on your mac and they remain on your mac they are simply pushed then to the cloud. iCloud and Mac calendar are merged, the mac calendar always remains.

Try turning the calendar sync off in settings->iCloud and restarting it, think that's what I did and everything started correctly

I have kinda the same problem. Can't get the iPad and iPhone calendars to sync.
Any help would be appreciated.

My issue with iCloud and iCal is that I know may multiple versions of every appointment showing up all on all my devices.

I recently added an iMac to my MBA and iPhone. Therefore, my iMac and MBA had two identical sets of calendar entries (along with another set on my iPhone via synch through iTunes).

Apparently iCloud picked up all three of these as separate calendar entries so I know have duplicates of every event (including holidays) on every calendar.

I'm sure it is probably due to a setting or preference I selected or missed, but it is frustrating.

I solved my duplicate entry problem. I actually had two issues. The first was I was somehow subscribed twice to the holiday calendar. The second was I was displaying calendars for both "On My Mac" and "iCloud".

I was about to correct the duplicates via the following:

1. In iCal, either select "Calendars" from the top of your calendar (below the red, yellow, green buttons in the top left corner) or you can reach via iCal, View, Show Calendar List.
2. Delete duplicate Holiday subscription.
3. Unselect duplicated calendars from "On My Mac"

Still unclear if the best way to utilize iCloud is to show the iCloud calendars (keep them checked and remove checks from "On My Mac" or the opposite (keep "On My Mac" calendars and uncheck iCloud).

How is everyone else's setup for this?

Even though mine was setup correctly, I wasn't getting iCloud updates either. What I did to fix it was to turn it OFF, then turn it back on. THEN everything worked correctly.

iCloud iCalc syncing is AWESOME.

ok...so for anyone having the problem I noted above my subscriptions have now shown up on my iOS devices. I guess it just took some time to sync up. (weird)

However, my subscribed calendars are still not showing up when I go to iCloud.com and look at my calendar. This doesn't bug me as much, it just strikes me as odd.

Also, when on iCloud.com on my mac...while in calendar I still cannot get the preferences to show up. i.e.: I click the gear, click preferences, then nothing. Anybody else have this happen to them?

Hello, i updated my mac to 10.7.2 with iCloud and iPhone 3GS to iOS5.

I configured iCloud on both devices but now i have a dilemma:
If i disable iCloud sync on my iPhone, it asks if you want to delete the data or keep it on the phone. On the other side, the mac only says that the data will be deleted without giving you any chance to save it.
This way alla my contacts and calendars became an online databases and if i disable iCloud on my mac, i get blank iCal and Address Book. Nice one.
If i export contacts or calendars and disable iCloud, then import them back the the applications, i get the data back, but it also enables automatically iCloud services.
So now, if i'd like to get my offline data back for itunes only syncing, i have to export calendars one by one, disable iCloud and import them back.
Is it possible there is no other solution for this?

PS: i have bookmarks syncing enabled with iCloud, but how do i check on icloud.com they are actually synced?

You solved my problem mattwallace24.
A simple update to 10.7.2 and all that iCloud promises has resulted in duplicate iCal entries for everything.
As you say, selecting calendars and unchecking the iCloud calendar boxes or the other way round. I have unchecked the iCloud boxes. I don't need my iMac's iCal showing me what iCloud has on record. I just assume iCloud has a perfect copy of my entries.

Thanks

I am having the same issue. If I remove iCloud on my iMac, my calendar goes blank. How does something that was on my computer disappear. How do I release it, I would actually like to use a different iCloud account.

iCal sync issues

Hi ,I think I stumbled on to the answer to the sync problems.
What I did was i created a new calendar in the cloud, I named it the cloud to save confusion
Then i shared it with my,....... me.com account.
Now all seems to be working well.
It seems to sync with in 5 min.
I can even get an app called Reqall to post reminders to the cloud as well.
I hope this helps....I had been struggling for 2 days trying to figure this out.
I had looked all over ...utube and apple with no success:):) no more!!

iCal/iCloud sync problems

I too had problems - but everything resolved itself when
- I went into System preferences
- then into iCloud
- then unchecked the box next to Calendars...
- then I checked the box next to Calendars and it launched a process....

In effect, the 6 or so different calendars on my Mac were "upgraded" (keeping all the data) and duplicated onto iCloud - all automatically! Fantastic (no more exporting calendars and publishing them to mobileme... this seems MUCH simpler). Now to sync them with Google calendars...

iCloud iCalc syncing is AWESOME.

This fixed it for me too. I went into system preference on my mac > iCloud and turned off the ical sync then turned it back on. Seems to work great now. Booyah!!

this is what did it for me. My iCal was not getting updated with new calendar entries. But unchecking and rechecking the calendar box in the iCloud settings got everything to synch up.

This worked for me also. Thanks for the info! A little intimidating with it's pop up message about deleting calendar content from my mac... though it was only in regards to my (empty) iCloud calendar entries - all my calendar info I've previously had has stayed.

Yep it worked for me as well.
