I was going crazy trying to figure this out. I am sure I still will when I try to delete gmail but I use gmail for my calendars. My work iMac was syncing with iCal just fine to my work iMac. I am trying to import gmail to iCal, then use iCal to sync to iCloud and then hopefully delete gmail altogether. I think since I was at work that my home iMac is on as well with iCloud so I think that is why I keep getting my dup appointments. Hopefully once I get home I can change the settings on that computer and everything will be ready to go. This importing calenders should not be this hard! Good luck to all!

i too had problems - but everything resolved itself when
- i went into system preferences
- then into icloud
- then unchecked the box next to calendars...
- then i checked the box next to calendars and it launched a process....

In effect, the 6 or so different calendars on my mac were "upgraded" (keeping all the data) and duplicated onto icloud - all automatically! Fantastic (no more exporting calendars and publishing them to mobileme... This seems much simpler). Now to sync them with google calendars...

thank you!

It worked!

Even though mine was setup correctly, I wasn't getting iCloud updates either. What I did to fix it was to turn it OFF, then turn it back on. THEN everything worked correctly.

iCloud iCalc syncing is AWESOME.

Hi, thanks for that tip, it worked for me.

What A Mess

I solved my duplicate entry problem. I actually had two issues. The first was I was somehow subscribed twice to the holiday calendar. The second was I was displaying calendars for both "On My Mac" and "iCloud".

I was about to correct the duplicates via the following:

1. In iCal, either select "Calendars" from the top of your calendar (below the red, yellow, green buttons in the top left corner) or you can reach via iCal, View, Show Calendar List.
2. Delete duplicate Holiday subscription.
3. Unselect duplicated calendars from "On My Mac"

Still unclear if the best way to utilize iCloud is to show the iCloud calendars (keep them checked and remove checks from "On My Mac" or the opposite (keep "On My Mac" calendars and uncheck iCloud).

How is everyone else's setup for this?

This whole iCloud iCal thing is a fuc*ing mess. They need to fire someone. I wouldn't rely on iCal for anything important. I even set up birthdays and they are supposed to repeat every year...ha, they don't. I have triple entries on everything. Why? I guess because I have 3 Apple devices. Why even have a cloud if it is this sloppy and unreliable? Everything about it is pathetic and I'm a fanboy so that tells you it is really bad for me to say it. FAIL! Every day it seems Apple is getting more and more like Microshaft. What a shame.

OMG...THANK YOU!! Good night, too much time trying to figure it out before I found your post...whew! Loved Google calendars when I was using my Pre, but now with iPhone 4s and iCloud, gonna have to let Google go. ;)

Now...if I could only get my bloody Time Capsule working correctly!!! sigh.

No iCloud in system preferences

Okay, so I just went to my iCal to add an event and discovered the entire thing is blank. I'm sure glad I found this thread, but I don't have iCloud in my system preferences, only MobileMe - is this because my OS is Leopard?

So I can't follow the steps you suggested. I want my iCal back. BTW, I don't have any other devices - I just sync to my MobileMe account online, and that's it.

Help?!

Worked Perfectly! Thank You!

This fixed my issue. Thanx!

I have been using MM Calendars and now iCloud Calendars without any problems. Also, the rest of my family uses it without problems. So maybe not everyone is having the same problems as you. Regarding the Birthday Calendar, I recommend you consider using the Contact Database to store your Birthdays and then you do not need to manually manage them with Calendar Entries. Just activate the Birthday Calendar and they will be pulled from your Contacts.

Really not trying to play down your problems but maybe if you heard the other side it would give you some hope of getting yours working properly. Good Luck.
