Get it while it's hot...or before it is removed. I wonder what has caused Apple's change of heart? This App has been in the "approval" process since October 2008.

This is what I have been waiting on for almost a year now when I first heard of it. But now I keep reading it is not free on the iPhone and only free when on the computer. This has seriously degraded this product. Why not just use Skype to go or whatever it's called?

The only feature I would really care about on iCall is the switching feature to send calls to WiFi. This way I can drastically minimize minute usage on my account while I am at the house or anywhere there is WiFi. If I have to pay for it, then I might as well just keep my minutes and not deal with the hassle. I don't talk that much in the first place.

I don't get it - I thought icall was billed as a program that would allow you to make and receive calls for free over a wifi network. Now it looks like you have to pay $10 a month if you want to be able to use your own phone number as the number people call you on. Did I misinterpret things or is this program not all it was hyped up to be? I figured that if I was at home on my wifi connection (or anywhere else with a wifi connection), calls would automatically be made and received over the wifi network at no additional cost.

tmobile charges 10$ a month for there tmobile@home version of this..I guess they see they can too.

I guess I can see the benefit of this app if say you have a relative who lives in europe... or someone who you talk to regularly who lives in another country. However for me I have no one like that. I have the 900 minutes a month for $60 plan. If I used iCall it would allow me to drop to the 450 minutes for $40 a month, but I would also have to add iCall for $10 a month making it $50 a month. On top of that I loose my unlimited nights and weekend, and all of my rollover (except for 450 of the minutes.) Also I would have to go through the process of switching each call over when one comes in. For me not having to go through that process is worth $10 a month to me. So, really this program isn't beneficial to me in the end. Too bad, looked like a cool app when I heard about it a year ago, and maybe if they make US calls free it would cause me to look at the app again. I was in full support of the idea of paying for the app to start with, then calling would be free. But anyway... looks like a nice app, just doesn't suit me as I had hoped. For anyone who has someone living in another country, then this app should suit you nicely!

This also benefits people who may have crappy service at home and drops calls alot (like myself). I have the lowest plan already (450), but it would allow me to talk more and rake up on rollover minutes in case I ever need to use them.

I had a look at this and to be honest I think I prefer Truphone. Yes icall is cheaper but we're only talking cents per minute. But then factor in it's location agnostic meaning I've got to use an international prefix for every call it's not so user friendly. Then, Truphone has the advantage of auto routing calls over voip when your not in wifi by using a local access point (yes this costs but is covered by my calling plan so is effectively free).

So I think I'll give icall a miss.

There is no free service with this. I cant set it up without using a credit card. Ill pass.

Disappointing after the expectations had built up. Truphone is a far better product (can't speak to iCall's call quality but Truphone's is very good with a small lag), including the ability to make international calls while on 3G (not just WiFi). The ability to switch between cellular and VOIP is pretty cool, though.
