I have been unable to log into my mail for the last five minutes on iCloud.com and have just been getting the spinning circle of insanity. Anyone else?

I just tried it for you and it was REALLY slow logging in. Took about 60 seconds but finally got there and is running slow.

Thanks. Mine is finally up and running again. I am forwarding all of my e-mail accounts to my .me address, but if Apple can't figure out how to make iCloud mail more stable soon I will need to find another solution.

I wrote too soon. It is down again. How can a company that is so good at developing new concepts and applications be so bad at something as simple as e-mail hosting???

I'm having issues as well :(

If they're trying to win me over, they're doing a lousy job. I've been waffling over whether to stay with apple and keep my .mac email address or use a domain name. As it stands, if I'm unable to get emails, then this is a serious problem.

Me too...

Apple Mail error: "The attempt to read data from the server “p99-imap.mail.me.com” failed."

iCloud.com fails to connect and offers "Report to Apple" - done...

There is now a message on iCloud status page:
iCloud: Mail & Notes - Users Affected: Some
11/28/2011 11:07 PST
Users may be unable to access iCloud mail. Normal service will be restored ASAP.

Not good and not helpful...

It continues to amaze me how bad this product is. It's email hosting!! Comparatively speaking, it should a piece of cake for Apple. But it's bad. So bad.

I'm worried that this great concept (Apple's iCloud) will be overshadowed by their complete inability to run the service properly. They clearly don't have the right talent working on this project.

I've had no mail since yesterday. It tells me my login credentials are wrong, despite me not having changed them. This happened to me during the last outage too. A right inconvenience!

Down for me. Since transitioning from MobileMe to iCloud, this has happened to me once a week (twice one particular week). Perhaps we should turn this thread into a "sticky thread" since this appears to be chronic issue.

Mine is down too. It is aggravating.

However, in the past I have also had trouble with my Gmail address. My yahoo address is more stable but totally unusable due to spam. My personal domain will go out for hours at a time.

NO email service is 100% reliable.

That said, iCloud is getting to be a real pain since it replaced MobileMe.

Of course no email service is 100% reliable, but since the transition from MM to iCloud, this seems to be a chronic, weekly issue.

My is working again.

My comment about no service being reliable was towards some other posters' comments that Apple runs a bad email service.

My point is that iCloud is no worse than anyone else.

Apple has problems for a couple of months during transitions and it is a pain. However, over the years I have just as much trouble with my other accounts.

I disagree. Apple's track record for email/iCloud is worse then their competitors. You also cannot give them a bye stating they're just ramping up iCloud because they've been doing email since the iTools days and even back then it was less stable the hotmail and other free email services.

I respectfully disagree.

The only problem that I have had with Apple email from the iTools days to the present has been availability. They have about 99% uptime. It is very similar to DirecTV and rain fade. 99% uptime is not good enough and it is a VERY annoying problem.

However, I have never lost emails from my folders with Apple. I have lost my entire archives with Gmail on three occasions.

I have no serious problem with spam with Apple. I get hundreds of spam per week with Yahoo.

I have no problems with Apple's spam filters. Gmail spam filters are so agressive that one of my employees (funeral home) couldn't get our work e-mails on his Android. Our live answering service (medical and funeral homes) has told me that none of her clients could use Gmail with their Androids. Every message was labeled spam with no easy fix. Doctors aren't techies so they went to texting with the Android or to an iPhone. The savvy iPhone users use iCloud with both an iCloud message and text message for a true emergency.

For my needs, Gmail is much worse.

Well... I respectfully disagree with you. I've been using MobileMe for several years and while it had some problems, it hasn't been too bad. But since the transition to iCloud, the email has been horrible. Constant time outs and hang ups, especially the last 2 months. I finally gave up and went back to gmail.

I'm diggin' iTunes in the cloud, but iCloud email blows big time right now.

Apparently you didn't read my post. I admitted that iCloud has some real problems with time outs and hangs. The problems are so severe that my local dental/medical/funeral home answering service has resorted to sending both an e-mail and text message for real emergencies.

What you are missing is that same answering service can not use Gmail because of their overly aggressive spam filters.

I can not share a typical e-mail but can say that it looks like gibberish to most people and to Gmail spam filters. However, the template gets a lot of information we need in the shortest message.

No email system is perfect.

To repeat, currently the following email systems have these problems.

1. iCloud - uptime problems.

2. Yahoo - too much spam.

3. Gmail - overly aggressive spam filters.

ADDED LATER

The answering service will send an e-mail and a text. The text says "Call Service we have a death call". The e-mail has the info. 99% of the time we get the e-mail. With Gmail the success rate was only 20% with the rest being labeled spam.
