I have the same problem. Tried restarting the phone, resetting network settings, using another wifi network, sign out and back in from iCloud, restore my iPhone and use an iTunes backup, restoring and setting as new phone. I deleted my previous backup. Nothing works. I was considering starting to pay for iCloud storage, but this is making me stay with Google Drive.
Tried the same thing buddy. No help.

Yeah there must be a problem in the new update or something with apple and they don't want the crap from the press server status all saying it's fine so I don't know?

Dido. Never have I had this issue before (not that I can remember.) I've tried two different wifi connections (at home wifi and the wifi on campus.) I've turned backups off and deleted all backups. Now it's showing me "iCloud backup failed"

Updated to iOS 9.3 Public Beta 1, and I still have the same error. It's strange because it worked fine in the beta before downgrading to 9.2.1. After that I couldn't make a new backup, even after updating again to 9.3.

This is really bazaar needs a fix or sorting fast I like most rely in auto back up to iCloud and not being funny some people having this problem are paying for it I will be happy to pay and will when I need extra space but would not be happy if it was not working and yes mine fine update from 9.2.0 what every it was to 9.2.1. Doing my head in.

Works! Finally!

I've been in touch with Apple Support the last 2 weeks and they said they were working with the server engineers to figure out why it was happening. Either they figured it out or it was an unrelated, more global issue. Woop.
