I am somewhat relieved to see I am not the only person running into this issue, but it is unfortunate to see something that should be seamless not work. For me, Notes works both ways for my iPhone and iPad, but on my previous Macbook Pro (early 2011) and the new Macbook Pro, notes only sync down, they do not sync up. I've had a ticket open with Apple for over a month and no resolution. I spent 8+ hours with support on this issue gathering logs, reinstalling the OS twice, and I'm not going to keep spending my time trying to figure out their problem.

My ticket also got escalated to the Apple Engineering team, but I have not heard a response.

Hi, I have experienced this exact same issues about 2 weeks ago. I went to Apple Genuis Bar. I tried to log in my account in different devices. Nothing works.

Also, I tested with my father's apple ID which is completely different from my AppleID. They both have the same issue.

So, this issue isn't from the devices. and it isn't from the account. Could be the "backend server" issue we cannot fix in here. Once I hear from AppleCare, I will post what they said to here.

Add me to the list. So frustrating. Seems the world is crashing for me and the many Apple products I have. Bugs in everything I'm using now. To the point that I'm returning the $4k laptop I just bought. I can't justify giving Apple that kind of cash knowing they're just sticking it in their pockets and obviously not towards the engineers that can fix this.

I had a call with support yesterday, they said I should hear a response from engineers within the next 2 days. I will post if I hear a response. I also let them know that if they need to clear all records from the database that Notes uses in iCloud that they could. All of my important notes are in Evernote but I would like to be able to use Notes if needed.

When I have Notes open, I notice in Console that there are three failures that constantly repeat on attempting to modify CloudKit records and these messages in Console are part of the Notes subsystem. I wonder if a few notes somehow got hung up which is causing the sync issue. This has occurred after I reinstalled the OS and also used a new MacBook Pro, so what's strange about it is it is not a local copy of notes that is causing the issue.

Cannot agreed for more. Paid a lots to Apple for their system reliability. Totally disappointed of their service. I contacted their support and spent few hours on phone by getting the diagnostic reports. And they said the would get back to me within the next 3 days. I still heard nothing from them yet. I even updated ios10.2 today. However, nothing helped. It doesn't seem they have the fixed included in the latest updated.

Just to add that I am having the same issue with syncing notes. It's worked flawlessly since day one. Now nothing is syncing. What the hell is going on at Apple? One of the main reasons I am reluctant to leave the ecosystem is reliability but it looks like that isn't a given any more...

So just realized that syncing is broken on iPhone as well. So essentially both my MacBook and iPhone pull down from iCloud, but neither is pushing data back up. God damn it Apple, you're just begging me to leave at this point!

Apparently, the ecosystem is broken. I am writing an official complaint letter to them to see what we can get. I will use this forum as reference to show them how many people are affected. That's really nothing else we can do in here...

Spam their twitter feed. Companies seem to pay more attention and respond to more on social media then their own support forums (due to the higher publicity surrounding them).
[doublepost=1481686747][/doublepost]Called Apple support, and after just 5min of troubleshooting he hung up on me. **** YOU APPLE!!!

I've been having notes syncing issues for over a year now. Sometimes my iPhone and iPads will sync to iCloud. Other times they won't. Upgrading to iOS 10 "fixed" my iPad Pro but then my iPhone 7+ stopped syncing reliably. My MacBook hasn't been able to sync for over a year. Every time I delete the notes container or sign out/in of iCloud, it just downloads a set of notes that are over a year old (from when the syncing issues first started!) and not the notes currently showing on iCloud.com.

Notes can no longer be trusted to reliably sync. Even if it's working for you now, you don't know if it'll keep working in the future. I've moved to Google Keep and have been happy ever since. Not one syncing issue. Love that it has tagging (labels) and pinned notes. You can set reminders for your notes (time or location based). And the audio notes are pretty cool -- saves both a copy of your audio and a transcription of it in the note.

I'm actually glad now that Notes' sync broke. It forced me to look for a replacement, and it turns out the replacement is better for my needs/uses.

I haven't heard anything back from Apple, I may email them again today or tomorrow. Right now after all of the software updates I noticed that some notes on some devices are sporadically thinking. It's random, delayed, and inconsistent.

Just piling on. Having just about the exact same issue. If a note is created or deleted on my iPhone 7, it stays on my iphone 7. Doesn't sync across devices whatsoever. If I create a note on my iPad 4, iMac 2009, or iCloud.com it syncs just fine across all devices, including my iPhone.

I have done all the standard "fixes." Sign out/Sign in, hard reset, turn on while charging, etc. Nothing has worked.

I'm especially upset b/c I'm stuck at a Windows machine all day during work with no access to my phone (Govt. Office) and was very reliant on iCloud.com Notes syncing.

I'm having the issue with my MacBook. My iPad mini 4 and iPhone 7 sync fine; all devices are running the latest and greatest OS. But my MacBook is the culprit - I logged into iCloud and realize that changes I made to Notes on the MacBook in the past week or so haven't uploaded to iCloud. I've checked settings etc. and can't see any problems at my end.

Contacted Apple again and the Senior who's handled my case called me. He said that the engineers have determined that a large number of users are affect so it is unlikely they will fix it on an account by account basis, but that they will more likely do an overarching iCloud fix on the back end or bundle it with a future software update.

So, lets hope that iOS 10.2.1 and macOS 10.12.3 include fixes eventually.

Hi, I have got a call back again from AppleCare. But nothing helps. Look, I have started using Google Keep to take notes. It seems it is the perfect alternative at this stage. As I don't think Apple will be able to fix it soon and I cannot just leave it happening to my life as I have got lots of business data to store on daily basis. Just a big disappointment about Apple this time. I also found it Google Keep is a very good Note system you should try too. Very handle as much as Apple Notes. But I still want my Apple Notes to be fixed by the way.

I got a call back too. The usual stuff I already did (and we established I already did)...log out and in, restart, make sure you are using iCloud as the default account everywhere. I mentioned that there were a lot of people reporting this exact error and the issue appeared to be with Apple, not with user or config, and they said there was nothing to that effect in the system.

I have to say I have never encountered so many issues with Apple devices and services as I am now.

This is without a doubt an issue with the iCloud service on Apple's end. I wiped my iPhone completely and installed it as a new user. Continues to pull down from iCloud just fine, but won't send a single thing up. What's infuriating is that this is a SIMPLE confirmation of an iCloud/software bug. Brand new phone, install NOTHING on it, enable iCloud and create a single note with a single line of text. Go to iCloud.com 24 hours later and the note is no where to be found.

What the **** do they expect end users to do at that point? Just live with it!?

Wait for a software fix? :/

Then let us know! I've got a case opened, and all I get is the standard, sign in/out non-sense. When I explained how I wiped my phone and did the previously posted steps to confirm it's an iCloud server end issue, they just say they'll look into it. I call back after a couple days and they give me the same crap. We just need an acknowledgement from them that they're aware of the issue and are working on it because as it stands, it doesn't seem like they're working on it.

Which leaves me sitting here thinking why am I investing in any Apple hardware? It may be a small aspect, but if they don't have this resolved by end of month I'm returning my 2016 MBP. I don't think they care, but it should mean something to them that someone is returning a $4k purchase because of something as simple as notes syncing.

The seniors I've talked to said they have a growing case open and are collecting log data and the engineers are actively working on it because there are a growing number of users affected

Considering they just released a bunch of new MBPs, new iPhones a few months ago, and we're into the holiday shopping season and A LOT of new iOS devices will be gifted next week they either need to put more people on this or at the very least LET PEOPLE KNOW!

So I just spoke to Rick at Apple and I think I have a new best friend. He didn't help resolve the issue (yet), but he DID ask questions, had me actually troubleshoot (and not just sign out and back in). He had me collect logs from both my phone and my Mac. I let him know I'm willing to spend hours to help test/QA this issue, and he took up my offer as I'll be going back/forth with the senior engineer team to find where this issue is. He's an overall great guy that actually showed interest in resolving this issue for me (and he mentioned there are lots of other cases with this issue so he knows the back end fix is critical to Apple's iCloud success).

Expecting a call-back on Wednesday and will update the group with what he comes back with.
