Not really - because I constantly receive security codes from banks and websites.Just toggle the "Silence Unknown Callers" on in the Phone app - problem solved.
Then just tap on your phone when you are expecting a code to be sent as it will show up in your silenced notifications. It's not a lot of extra effort. Have no problems whatsoever with codes and Silence Unknown Callers turned on.Not really - because I constantly receive security codes from banks and websites.
Right. That's why I don't have an iPhone 16.The hardware of the iPhone 16 Max has nothing to do with blocking spam text and calls. Software can take care of your problem.
Yeah, a quicker way to block a number would be nice. At the moment I have to dig several layers deep into a menu system to add a number to my blocked list. I'm still using an iPhone 7 though - so maybe adding numbers to the blocked list is easier these days? I don't know.Apple really needs an option to specifically block "unknown" and "no caller id" calls, separate from block all unknown callers.
is this an American thing? Getting so many spam calls that it becomes a genuine quality of life issue/reason to choose a certain phone?
A very annoying problem but the phone you use doesn’t make a differenceis this an American thing? Getting so many spam calls that it becomes a genuine quality of life issue/reason to choose a certain phone?
I’m going to take ‘Hiya’s report (source for both links) with a pinch of salt of salt - seems like a global teeth report by Colgate.
I find it hard to believe that 30% of calls are spam, anywhere, never mind the UK - I get maybe one or two a month. Perhaps it includes calls to business numbers/B2B spam?

Change your phone number. Then stop entering it on every website and form that asks for it. Just give them a work number or an old number.
Yeah, that's kind of my point. There needs to be a one click solution to instantly block spam numbers as well. Right now that option is a bit inconvenient to reach. Although I'm using an iPhone 7 - it is my understanding there is a later iOS out there. Anyway, the overall message is to do something about spam.Apple really needs an option to specifically block "unknown" and "no caller id" calls, separate from block all unknown callers.
I've kept my number totally secret for 24 years. But, one day (oh, about 5 or 6 years ago) the bots found me. They always do. I had a good run. But, getting a random phone number would likely yield worse results - since who know where THAT number has been. I've had the same cell number since 2000.Change your phone number. Contact your carrier directly to enable spam call protection. It's $5 a month, like a monthly fee. It's called AT&T Call Protect.I'd buy an iPhone 16 if Apple did something to totally thwart spam text messages and phone calls.
That's not really true in practical terms. Software and hardware work hand in hand. Some software won't work on some hardware. The hardware of the iPhone 16 Max has nothing to do with blocking spam text and calls. Software can take care of your problem.
