Fashion and taste are cyclic. Apple is almost always a leader in this area. When they introduced the original iMac, it was a smash hit. No more beige boxes. After two years, everyone had copied them. Even toasters were made to look like iMacs. So, Apple moved in a different direction. No silver is the new thing in PC's trying to cash in on the success of Powerbooks and Power Macs. Soon, Apple will do a complete redesign again. I, for one, can't wait.

personally, i dont think it's possible for them to return to the colour based computing of old. they have the sleek, minimalist look down to a tee, and to change it would be disaterous IMO. but i have been wrong before.

I personally don't care about the colors, but that's what colorware is for, the people who do.

I imagine it would be a business disaster because Apple has to make several different versions of the same model. That gets expensive for inventory. I suppose they could do it BTO, but that eliminates the point. I think the white and metal options (depending on the product) are pretty good. Other than black, I think having a bunch of colors is creating niches in an already niche product. Leave the colors to fashion designers.
