Foldable iPhone may be the strategy to revive the life in Apple
Remember Apples not going away. Question. Is will they still remain the king

A foldable iPhone doesn’t need to ‘revive’ life for Apple, the consumer doesn’t necessarily care about having the latest tech every single year, especially if it includes an exorbitant price tag. What they care about, is something that sensibly priced that they can afford, yet still have the iOS experience which keeps them devoted.

If I wanted to walk around with a tablet, I would. How’s one supposed to text and drive (just kidding) while holding a tablet

In terms of sales, even if Apple releases a folding IPhone , the sales will not increase.

In China Apple luster is gone. Huawei is at at the top now.

In India , IPhones are too expensive and people would rather eat than actually buy a fashion accessory.

In Indonesia, Samsung and Huawei is too strong. Apple software is not optimized for the Asian market.

Some people may say it is due to many factors, but in truth , consumers are fed up with Apple slow innovation.

Fragmentation of products , eg Homepod not sold in Asia, Apple Watch does not have ECG.
Asia is a second hand consumer for a first class product.

Foldable iPhones are coming in 2020/2021. Base pricing will likely start around USD 1499 to USD 1999 and up. Ex taxes.

I’m pretty sure you’d not like to buy it even at 1499.
Absolutely not. I have zero interest in folding phones. With the connectivity issues plaguing the XS and XS Max I wish Apple would just concentrate on making their iPhones work flawlessly as phones and fixing the unresponsive touch screen issue on iPad Pro’s.

A folding phone is like fitting wheels to a tomato: time consuming and completely unnecessary (quote: Blackadder the third).

I really like my X, but I like to switching to the iPad for iPad stuff (Apple Pencil tasks etc). I like the two devices.
They both do the tasks well as they are.

I don’t want a physical ridge, or whatever appearing in the middle of the screen to drag my pencil over. Yuk.

I also think a folding phone diminishes the product/s prestige and coolness instead of enhancing it.
Sure people will go “ooh” at it, but that’s the first ten seconds over and then it still sucks.

Folding phones will be a short lived fad, like 3D television. The real next big thing will be roll up phones. :)

There's a product out there but as of yet the foldable phone isn't it. It tries to mimic two devices simultaneously and both of the facsimiles are bad.

No go on a folding iPhone. Cost prohibited.

I agree. Really, really thin phones like in sci-fi movies, that you can roll up or fold up into nothing. These phones, not really foldable like in the movies. Kind of like wireless phones still needing cords to charge in some way.

No and if they only offered foldable it would significantly lower sales even if no increase in price

Considering Samsungs phone is priced at somewhere near the $2,000 mark, I can only imagine what Apples price would be. That price would not boost sales.

It wouldn’t probably wouldn’t boost sales like you mentioned, but it probably would draw more to Apples branding if they were released their version of a folding iPhone. In the least, it would certainly give them more notoriety where the media and public would be certainly curious to see what Apple has to offer compared to the competition, especially given they always try execute things ‘different’.

These folding phones we’re seeing will serve a group of people, but in my opinion, the thinness and price required to make folding phones overtake the mainstream won’t be possible in the foreseeable future (and that’s assuming they get the folding experience to work smoothly, which is a big assumption). I think before that time comes, attention may turn more toward augmented reality.

Seems like many people are interested in foldable phones. Unfortunately inspite of all the patents Apple has filed since 2011 it’s still a few years away.
Hard to believe that Apple is making us wait so long

I would rather wait until Apple can release their version of a foldable iPhone, and make it a ‘better’ product with none of the shortcomings that the current foldable phones likely will experience. Also, generally patents usually don’t always mean that a product will come to fruition, it just indicates a ‘general concept’ of design that Apple is considering.
