If AT&T Is So Bad..

Because they're not so bad. Besides these forums bring out the complainers. I've not had any problems.

I have been with Sprint, Verizon and AT&T over all I like AT&T best! no they are not perfect but none are.

AT&T is not bad, I travel a lot for my company and everywhere I go I get full bars of 3G, and in the 9 years i've had my account I have only had a handful of dropped calls.

Just switched from Verizon and picked up a new 3GS. Can't really complain about anything yet.
Verizon, on the other hand, gave me a couple of things to complain about. Namely my plan costing exactly the same price and it only included texting and 900 minutes.

You don't know how good AT&T is...
... until you live in Vermont where until just recently your options were U.S. Cellular, Verizon or Unicel. Forget Sprint, T-Mobile or any other major cell service provider.
I moved to Mass. and switched to AT&T. Been happy ever since.

I like AT&T, known people that switced over from sprint - verizon

Because they're not so bad.
There's just a very vocal minority opposed to AT&T. Whether they have bad service in their area or any other number of reasons, people will always think that the grass is greener on the other side.
In some areas, yeah, there are clear cut better service providers. But look at the big picture. AT&T has more coverage than the much pined for Verizon.

Exactly. Around me and the places I go, AT&T is #2 in terms of coverage. Verizon has the advantage.
Before the iPhone I had Verizon, and on Tuesday I'm going back to Verizon for my primary line; I have a BlackBerry Tour due to arrive which will replace (not fully replace, more like supplement) the iPhone as my primary means of communication. Too many AT&T dead zones and far too poor penetration of buildings. I find myself looking at a "No Service" message for 50% or more of my work day. Not acceptable.
My iPhone 3G gets coverage in most areas, but yes, poor in buildings depending on the building. At my gf's house I get No Service messages about 85% of the time, the rest of the time I get a single bar on Edge.
At my house, luckily, I get decent coverage even in the basement (where it only goes to No Service maybe 1% of the time).
The voice quality over 3G is pretty much the same as Verizon's, in other words about the same quality as a regular house phone. Have had a couple of dropped calls in random spots but I am not sure if that was me or the other caller since they were cell phone to cell phone calls.
Overall, AT&T is not that bad at all. I'd give them a 4 out of 5. Verizon is superior though, at least in my area and if the iPhone ever went there I'd even be willing to pay an extra $10 a month for it.

The reason why at$t is so bad is because they knew a service was coming out that iPhone could use (mms) and they were and are not ready to provide that service. As far as their general phone service, I have no complaints. BUT when I pay a premium for their service, I expect to be able use that service. They should of been ready to go with mms on iphone the day it was available to US market no excuses.
Let me ask you this...If AT&T set MMS free for the iPhone and lets say half of your MMS's didn't arrive to their recipients you'd still be complaining even though you had MMS. AT&T is upgrading and testing their network so that doesn't happen. It's pretty much a lose-lose situation for them. Either they come out with it and it doesn't work right, and people bitch, or the upgrade the network and make us wait and people will bitch. I think they made the right choice by making sure it works right...not just works.
Shut up about the MMS.... just get over it, att didnt say NO they are WORKING on it. Is anyone here the CEO of the company to say why they didnt release MMS. For god sake I think we should be happy att is so dedicated to doing there updates, they spent a lot of money on this and it takes man power (They have to sent people to update the tower software.) I like att I have no problems excellent service. They are not bad at all. People just give into the VZW is the best garbage.
Verizon is the worst! They sell the same exact phones ATT&T sells, for the most part, but with less features. It's BS what they do. I'll never go back to those jerks.
While AT&T isn't that bad, the truth is that quite often the device is more important than the service for some people. This is why Sprint is hemorraging customers.
This is a silly question. The iPhone has driven people from all the others to AT&T. Do you know anyone who has switched from another carrier to AT&T for any phone besides the iPhone?
I completely agree. This is why I switched from Sprint to AT&T 8 months ago. At that time, all they had to compete was the Instinct. What a joke. Now, they only have one decent phone.

AT&T is great. I think, for me at least my only complaint are the plans.
Example with T-mobile for the same $39 a month I can get 1000 anytime minutes and unlimited n&w. Depending on the phone unlimited web and messages can start as low as $20 a month. For blackberry or kick $35 a month for unlimited web and messages. $60 - $75 per month for that.
with AT&T 900 minutes will run you $60, data $30 and $20 for unlimited messages. That's $110 and still the T-mobile plan is better.
Not going to post every carrier but in general the what you pay / what you get always sucks when I compare AT&T to others.

AT&T is phenomenal here in Southeast Virginia. I switched from Verizon in February (poor service and I was on my 5th KRZR) and I went from having 1 bar to 5 with AT&T. 5 bars everywhere I go.

Last time I checked not all AT&T customers are using iphone and AT&T was there before the iphone and they will still be there after they lose their iphone exclusivity.

I think on the west coast, Verizon has the upper hand. In 5 years with Verizon, I've had one dropped call.
My parents both got iPhones and they have dropped calls inside their house. They spent $200 dollars to buy some sort of repeater, which broadcasts the cell signal inside the house.
As soon as another carrier gets the iPhone, I will be the proud owner of my very first iPhone.
