Yeah, thats fine and all, but I thought they said that only certain Best Buys would be getting iPads? If it doesn't seem like there is a market for it at that location, then it probably won't be on the list for launch day.

If they do have it, then other people might have the same idea as you and will drive out there for it. 15 iPads isn't a lot.

It depends on whether it has an Apple store within a store and Apple consultant on site.

Ahh yes, thats what it was. I couldn't remember.

I guess just call them up if you're not sure? Or is it listed on their website?

I just went to my Best Buy, which has an Apple consultant. He and the manager both told me that they were going to have 20 of EACH size on Saturday, so those Best Buy "reports" or whatever may not have been totally accurate.

well hopefully your friend is correct, that would be excellent news!

That would certainly make the Best Buy day-one rollout seem like less of a head-scratcher.

ya i have to admit that having only 5 of each size almost seemed like it wasn't even worth it to have them for launch in the first place. 20 per size is still a small amount but makes a lot more sense.

I am working till 2 or 3AM at Best Buy setting up the iPad display at my store, so I plan just to go outside after I clock out and wait until 9. Plus, I'll know exactly how many we have in stock ;)

That's actually a pretty interesting question. Do they charge a restock fee on laptops?

Restocking Fee
A 15% restocking fee will be charged on opened notebook computers, projectors, camcorders, digital cameras, radar detectors, GPS navigation and in-car video systems. A 25% restocking fee will be charged on special order products, including appliances. These fees apply unless the item is defective or damaged, you received the wrong item, or the fee is prohibited by law.

I hope it is considered a mp3 player like the ipod touch.

My Best Buy does not charge restocking fees on anything.

I'm going to BestBuy but it's only because I don't have a choice in the matter. I really don't want to drive 3-4 hours each way to an Apple store to get one. I plan on getting to the BestBuy about 5am or so that morning. I posted a thread in the iPad launch meetup forum under the Huntington, WV BestBuy if anyone else is going to that location.
