1) Why are BB'ers all over iPhone forums trying to justify their devices?
2) Why is everyone so anal about their FREAKING PHONES? It's a PHONE.
3) Why does someone with the "Greatest Phone Ever" care at ALL about what others think about their phone?
4) Wouldn't you guys do better to go out and get some sun... maybe some life?

5.) Why would someone who finds these types of conversations frivolous take the time to register on a site that hosts them, and post a series of questions regarding their existence?

3g is worthless if you are not in an area that has it. There is way more wifi than 3g. Wifi is everywhere and (in most cases) free and much faster. If I need a safety net for my wifi, I'd much rather have edge because it is widely available and fast enough and getting faster.

I still have very little issues with EDGE, when I am on the train it can cut in and out, but for the most part it is good. I wouldn't watch youtube videos over EDGE, but then again, I don't watch videos on a phone anyway.

Where do you live? And do you move around during the day?

Perhaps where you are, in certain spots, WiFi is available. That's certainly not true in most of the country, or many major cities. And it's practically useless when you're moving in a car or train or bus, or even walking down the street.

Nor is WiFi free in many areas. Cities are even beginning to back out of their plans to go wireless:

Paid wifi is dying. Free wifi is every where, coming soon to a cafe or library near you. I live in SoCal, and I had a 3g Razr.
3G is slow and cuts off my phone calls. If I want that I'll use Edge.
Obviously like most people in this country I work, and most people who work have access to wifi. Every mall, shop, airport, even city centres. Free wifi will be the future with some pay for premium services (like higher speeds, etc.)
As far as walking, I use the wifi that the iPhone finds as I pass Mcdonalds or Coffe Bean or a business, etc. that is offering it. We have free wifi in Burbank city centre and it's coming to LA civic center as well as virtually every business around town. Customers demand it. And it is cheap to provide. And when it just doesn't exist the new fine edge is about 25% the speed of wifi on the iPhone. Plenty good for email etc.

This is too bad... I understand that WiMAX might have the possibility of offering convergence, but I'll believe it when I see it. Muni WiFi would have been great, although it may understandably be not realistic. Even a paid muni wifi through a municipal services infrastructure or something (i.e. monthly fee, like T-Mo's $20, but WiFi everywhere in the city limits, perhaps) would be amazing.

So because 3G isn't available everywhere in the U.S. YET, this isn't a viable option to have considering it's the future? If we all thought like this then new products would never come out.

As for the wifi, it might be in a lot of places but a lot of those places aren't free, therefore defeating the purpose.

For a $600 phone that is the future I would think it would have all the latest technologies. It comes close, but still lacks.

By that logic you should be bitching about the lack of WiMax and 4G.

because I spend 10 minutes a day trying to find some USEFUL information about the phone I just bought? Take all the "my phone is better than yours (oh my!) crap" out and it could be cut down to 5 minutes a day.

It's pretty useless comparing the iPhone to BB in the first place, the iPhone no matter what is being marketed should NOT be put into the smartphone category, it is a fashion phone b/c it lacks the essentials of the smartphone category. Apples to oranges as its has been stated over and over again. That said, it is the best fashion phone out thus far, can't wait to see the Samsung Armani when it comes out though. The lack of 3G isnot a large problem for the larger demographic of iPhone users, it's been beaten to death. If you need a BB w/ 3G then get one if you want the iPhone then keep it. There's 3G a dime a dozen but only one iPhone.
