I took the roll of the dice by ordering on eBay from an overseas (Hong Kong) seller, a used W3670 3.2 GHz. The seller had high ratings so I was not that concerned.

Got the CPU installed, it works great.

Now I'm just trying to decide if it's worth it to go from 32GB to 48. Since I have to buy all 3 16GB dimms, it's an expensive proposition for just 16GB increase (plus the RAM speed difference). But in an ESXi environment, RAM is king, so I may do it.

If I don't sell my 4,1 2009 Mac Pro 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 24 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC memory, ATI Radeon HD 4870 512 MB GPU, and Intel 160GB SSD, what can I use it for? Or do with it? I am planning on getting the nMP when it comes out.

I could buy OS X Server and host my own website? Is it worth it from a cost/price standpoint? Sounds like it would be fun though.

I'll pay you to ship it to me and I'll make good use of it.

Well given that this is about $1500 worth, you should sell it and get any one/combo of these...

External Thunderbolt enclosure + Drives
8 bay Synology + Drives ( Web server right there + loads of other useful stuff )
4K monitor

Or add it all to the spec of the nMP. That Ram / Main drive is not going to be cheap and you want the most you can per Thread depending on what you are using it for.

I held onto a few computers in the past and they just sit there... getting cheaper...
