It was an obvious nod to the note 9 having 512/8. Anyone who knows anything about iOS knows that even 5 or 6gb would be hard to fathom, and 8 was a joke.

iPhone X If MAX is only 3G RAM are you returning it ?

It wasn’t obvious to some on here. Point was, there were like three or four threads started on this that others believed the XS Max was going to have 8 GB of RAM, which that would be completely lopsided of Apple to ever include that amount.
The funny thing is, I swear the people who worry the most about “future proofing” are the same ones who buy a new phone every year anyway.
Devices like the SE and 6s have 2GB, are 3 years old, and in actual real wold use are still competitive with most of the phones on the market today. Devices like the X and 8 Plus with 3GB are still going to be kicking a$$ for a few years.

An 8 plus would probably suffice for 5 more years if all you do is look at forums, Reddit, Spotify and iMessage.
By most accounts, iOS 12 has even made devices with 1 or 2GB run like new. I think there’s only a very small percentage of power users who would feel restrained by an iOS device having “only” 3GB of RAM any time soon.
