I do not expect a headless iMac or smaller Mac Pro while Jobs is still at Apple. A computer that you ticker with? That's not Apple's style. Apple is a hardware company and believes firmly that people who make hardware should make their own software. Apple products are software/hardware match - that is their philosophy.

I understand your frustration, but this is Jobs' outlook. Apple is not open. Apple does not care to be open. There are many alternatives, but every system has its trade-offs. It's just unique in the computer world that the trade-off for Apple is lack of hardware choice - but an overall superior product

If Steve fails to announce a "headless iMac" - otherwise referred to as a mini MacPro with a mini-pricetag, then I am going to do this with any Apple products I have, including a new MacBook, and then switch to Windows XP.

This biggest drawback to Mac OS X is the lack of a "second source" for hardware. This allows Apple to set their high prices and to dictate to the user that they must survive with the limited hardware options that make sense to Apple's business model.

I've had enough of this CRAP  My shredding machine is already warming up!

"DUMBEST POST OF THE WEEK!" We have a winner..
Congrats MacVault. Have a banana.

If Steve fails to announce a cheap headless Mac tower I am going to do this with any Apple products I have, including a new MacBook, and then switch to Windows XP.

So when will you be posting the link to the shredding video?

I'm a tad concerned, or I guess confused at what shredding all of your money spent will show. Maybe I'm missing something or not thinking through all the way? I understand it will be an attention getter if you do, so feel free to post the link somewhere around here, it will be a big hit I'm sure.

Not dealing with the headaches of Windows is worth the price alone. But if you really want a high spec PC and don't want to deal with Windows you can always use Ubuntu! And with Beryl I found it actually surpasses OSX in alot of ways. I found it a great alternative to Windows and it's free open source.

I really don't think you have the guts or the equipment to do it. So I reiterate, send it to me and I'll "do it for you" :D

Apple have shown us where this idea stands IMO. Downgrade a Mac Pro and bobs your uncle, best you're gonna get, Apple don't make PCs :)
