Have that case too, you had any issues with it? I took it out of the case the other day and found my top button damaged.
I use a Zugu Muse with both 2018 12.9 Pro and 10.5 Pro and haven't had any issues with changing cases.

Thank you for that! That's pretty much precisely what I'm thinking. If I want only one device, which really is my ultimate goal (other than phone of course), because I don't use any enough to warrant the cost of multiple, the 11" is just the way to go. I LOVE the idea of the 12.9 at the desk, but honestly, with a display like the pro, I'm gonna want to use it in my lap for games and other things, and I just think the 12.9 is gonna be bigger than I want for that.
It makes more sense for me to have one, good, practical device that does everything decently than multiple devices.
I would say though that the 12.9“ is great on the lap with Magic Keyboard. In this regard the 12.9” is better than it’s ever been, the MK adds much needed variable angles and I’ve been amazed how well implemented trackpad support is given how patchy Apples software has been in recent years. Plus, although the 11” is also decent in the lap, it’s narrower, your legs have to be closer together to support it, and the bigger footprint of the 12.9” is better in this regard.
That said, there’s no doubt in my mind that if you want one device to rule them all, the 11” is the better choice. I had to grit my teeth back when I bought both sizes (at the same time, madness!), felt profligate and not my proudest moment, but I’ll keep them for years and I’ve used both a tremendous amount. Plus, it still worked out cheaper than my typical MacBook Pro purchase every 5 or 6 years, my 2013 MBP is in all likelihood my last. If the iPad didn’t exist, I’d have bought the latest MBP at a spec that’d eclipse the price of two iPads.
Aah, the ridiculous justifications one makes lol!

Really? I’m a bit gutted. Been taking to them. I’ll post back. I really have loved the case too.
I only just received it yesterday so too early to tell, but I'm sorry to hear this happened to your IPP. How long had you been using it before this happened? And what is the damage to that button?Have that case too, you had any issues with it? I took it out of the case the other day and found my top button damaged.
Nearly a year without taking it out. The button works, but has lost its integrity. It’s sort of flush with the iPad now. If I hold it upside down it falls back to the proper position. Not the end of the world but upsetting nontheless.I only just received it yesterday so too early to tell, but I'm sorry to hear this happened to your IPP. Thanks for the input. I think it's more than I need for my particular workflow, but it sounds super cool!
And thanks to all of you for the responses. I honestly appreciate the posts that make me think and consider various different scenarios.
I love the mini, and have really wanted it for a long time, but what I've ultimately determined is that when I'm laying in bed, the device I am most likely to look at before falling asleep, is my darn phone. It's just easy with a Loopy case to hold it, read through my facebook and look through my instagram, then set it down.
I pretty much had this pipe dream of having a mini to read on in bed. Honestly, I have figured out that I do NOT read in bed for the most part. I fall asleep almost immediately when I try to.
Ultimately, my goal really is to minimize devices - it's what I've been trying to do for a while. I think having an 11" is going to make my mini pretty much unnecessary for my use case. Since I purchased a mini for my grandson, and it's still in the return window, I am returning that, and giving him my mini. And of course, I'm selling my iMac.
I ordered myself the 11" and the Magic Keyboard. I'm also gonna order a set of skins. I think with a single more versatile device, I'll get more of my money's worth out of it. I feel I'm just being wasteful having multiple devices with none getting enough use to justify having them.

Where did you get your skins?
I'm gonna try the Magic Keyboard. There are reasons why I think it'll be perfect for what I need when I'm using it at my desk. If I get it and am underwhelmed, I'll return it and go back with the keyboard folio. I do LOVE the typing experience on that and the ASK - curious to see if I'll like the MK keys as much.
I’ve gotten most of my skins the last few years from DecalGirl. I just got a set in for my new Surface Go 2 and when I was choosing the design, I was surprised at how many I’ve already gotten. I’m on a “marble” (the stone, not the game pieces) kick right now. I’m thinking next iPad Pro will be wearing blush or satin marble even though I’m not a “pink” person.

Keep your mini and get a 2020 i3 Macbook air.

I was in that discussion -

Anyone use a photo book app that is customizable?
Have you looked at Motif? https://www.motifphotos.com/en-us/the-motif-appforums.macrumors.com
I thought she was going with Motif.
To me it seems you've already listed your reasons for what size iPP to get.I am about to replace my iMac and go back iPad only. I had the 2018 11" pro, but sold it because it was really overkill when I had to get my iMac for work and for making photo books. I no longer need it for work, and I've found a way to do customized photo books with an app - FINALLY (which I'm sure some of you have seen - thanks to someone on the boards)!!!
SO now I'm struggling again because, though I LOVE the size of the 11" pro for versatility, and think I would actually use it more sitting if I didn't have a case on it (I like that I could just put a skin and easily pull it off the MK to use as a tablet - I HATED using it with the keyboard folio on it), I'm wondering if I shouldn't go with a 12.9 for more screen when I'm using it on the MK.
I finally have a mini, which I've wanted for a LONG time, and I am concerned that will become nearly obsolete for me with a versatile 11" that is gonna be pretty darn lightweight without a case.
OTOH, if I go for a 12.9, I feel I won't use it as much because I don't think I'll pull it off the stand and use it in my lap like I would with an 11", but if I use it on the desk for writing, digital planning, etc. I'm sure I'd love the size.
Make your arguments for me - not too harsh today if you can help it.
I apologize for my constant posts/changes lately. I really need to get out of the house. ;-p

If you are replacing your iMac, and have an iPad Mini already, you've pretty much covered your choices. If the iPP is a replacement for an iPad & you have a mini, portability isn't an issue. Which means go for the most screen real estate as you can, especially if start using split screen often. The mini is a great option for working on the go, or doing basic or simple tasks on a couch or away from a stable surface to work on.
no one ever ‘needs’ two iPads, but everyone wants to.Well, the more I considered it, the more I realized the 11" just makes more practical sense. I don't have a need for two devices, and I think using the 11" with just a skin on it when I pull it off the Magic Keyboard (or folio if I wind up not liking the MK) will make it a lot more user-friendly sitting on the couch.
My needs are just not such that I can really justify two iPads, so I think having one that can do it all makes more sense for me.
It just so happened that the mini I bought my grandson is still in the return window at Best Buy, so I'm going to return it and give him my mini, and of course I'm selling the iMac as well. I'm pretty pumped to go back to a more minimalist setup.

Trust me having 2 is great.
Just to tag on, I used the iPP 11 as my main computer since the Nov 2018 release of the original! Just switched from the 12.9 2020 back to the 11 (2020) because that quick zip powerhouse small device was sorely missed. The 12.9 is gorgeous gorgeous and great docked but I would fatigue holding it as a tablet. The 11 kinda hits a sweet spot for my use case.
my occasional multitasking is a textbook or medical journal PDF on one side and hand written notes on the other. Easy to do since for two column medical journals, I’m zoomed on one column anyway, and I use GoodNotes zoom writing tool on both iPad sizes anyway. Otherwise, I’m mostly a single task with slide over for quick interactions type of user.
