Main reasons for me willing to switch to 12.9 from 10.5:
-much bigger screen
-moar! RAM

Thats it. If they released, say, iPad Air 4+ or whatever theyd call it, with around the same screen size as 12.9 Pro, Id get that one instead. I believe that current Air 4 is rather good iPad given that Pro 11 ir considerably more expensive. Base storage on new Air is stuck at 64Gb though, which, IMHO, today is less than adequate and 128Gb should be the norm on Air and at least 64Gb on regular iPad, and 256Gb on Pro.
I can see the difference between 60Hz and 120Hz when browsing/swiping, however I usually turn off all the bells and whistles to save some extra juice, so, 120Hz is not a must for me, not playing games on it either.

For me, I do a LOT of reading of scanned pdfs, often in a car or plane, where there's lots of sunlight. So the brighter screen and higher quality screen help a good bit with readability. These are often large files, so more RAM helps too.

high refresh rate and more ram is useful. Wouldn’t be able to have another iPad without pro motion just like i won’t be able to go back to 60hz when the new iPhones come out this year.

On the keyboard, the 12.9 has a dedicated row for numbers.

If you don't game what other advantages does a higher end iPad bring MacRumors Forums.png

I recently traded in my 10.5 and still have my 2018 12.9”. I will say the 10.5 has been my favorite out of all the iPads I’ve had. I like the size and its slimness. However, the 12” has more power which I found helpful when sing certain apps like Procreate. The main reason I traded it in (which was recently) is I had to charge it more frequently-like at least once a day, maybe more. I figured it was on the way out so I should do it while I could get a few bucks for it.

For me, the 12.9 is substituting at the moment for a laptop, tho if I can get the funds I might go for a laptop, but not at the moment anyway. Good luck whatever you decide.

All these crappy mobile games have not caught up to the hardware yet anyways

For me it is Face ID. I bought an Air 4. I really wanted to like it. I even kept it past the return window. Touch ID just killed the experience for me, so I sold it for a loss.

Maybe in some cases. When it comes to racing games, I find my iPad Pro with joypad way nicer than my switch for example
