Absolutely. It has its flaws, but overall it is a feat of engineering.

Coming from a blackberry 8703e I couldn't be happy. I was carrying both the blackberry and a nano and was doing mostly web browsing over email on my phone when there was downtime at work (interpreting). The iphone is just an amazing product and while we might be the guinea pigs for testing the first generation, hopefully updates will start to flow in and fix any issues we have.

Things that haven't been too good:

-Keyboard takes a little getting used to coming from a blackberry and landscape mode only works in the web browser.
-Email has to be deleted one by one (this sucks because after I imported all my mail I have over 300 emails to delete).
-Only select youtube videos are available.
-I can't add a song as a ringtone.

Apart from those things though I've pretty much been in tech heaven. This is the closest I've come to the all in one product I've ever wanted. All I need now is more programs and good games to keep me busy while in a seminar;)

I would definitely buy again times two. It is a brilliant piece of technology and I am really happy with it. Blows me away every time i touch it and I'm not sure just when that will ever end. Amazing.

1) If you had it to do over again, would you buy iPhone 1.0, or wait for the next generation?

2) What would you advise your best friend to do? What if they had to switch carriers?

3) If you could afford to, would you give one as a gift? Ditto on the carrier issue.

1.) Yes
2.) Yes
3.) Yes

No regrets!:)

1.0 definitely has some kinks. The first model I had had broken wifi so I had to return it. Last night my calendar reminder went off and the alarm sound kept beeping with no way to turn it off.

But other than minor quirks, I love it. Plus Apple will just keep updating the software to make it even more bug free assuming the hardware doesn't die :p. (but that's what Apple Care is for!)

Wow, I had the same issue with voicemail:

How bizzarre I am hoping this gets fixed with an update of firmware.

I would buy again in a heartbeat! As a matter of fact I am using my iPhone to read this and respond. If I could I would buy one for each member of the family b/c after playing with mine they all want one. If you can wait for the next gen then wait. However just like with any electronic devices they only get better so you will always be waiting instead of enjoying! So if you can afford it then rock on!

Definitely would buy it again.

It has its shortcomings, but I have always hated every cellphone I have ever had until this one. It is actually fun to use.

Without a doubt I would buy it again.

Like everyone says, it has it's flaws, but they're so few and far between it doesn't matter.
It's leaps and bounds ahead of any other cell phone, I wouldn't use a cell phone unless it was an iPhone.

Go :apple:

Yep got to love the iPhone's keyboard. You know some people are still waiting to buy a iPod. You can't please everyone all the time. If you want the device and have the money... Then go for it! No device will be perfect. They are all made by man.

I would buy once more without hesitation. Couple of things here and there but much better than anything i have used before. To soft reset is easier than a treo that is for sure

Yes, I have no regrets.

I would recommend it to my friends, especially the ones who are currently on AT&T. For those that aren't, I'd let them play with mine and try some calls in their most visited places first to see if the coverage would suit them.

If I could afford it, I would definitely give one as a gift.
