I switched from Iphone 4 to the nexus. Enjoying Android thoroughly.

As have I.

But, on my latest custom ROM I've been having some problems.

The beauty of Android is the fact that I can try a new ROM a day if I wanted to.

I'm a card carrying $AAPL fanboy, but I was getting bored with IOS.

The Galaxy Nexus is dirt cheap from Google right now. I would pick one up if I did not already have a capable enough phone for my needs. I like being able to access the file system and MKV playback.

This.

I like the WP7 a lot, but unfortunately I like my iPhone even more.

My choice would be:
  1. iPhone/iOS
  2. Windows Phone 7/Metro
  3. Palm/Web OS
  4. Android

I'd agree. Though I'd probably swap the Palm/MS ranking if there was still support.

I own an iPhone 4. I own a Nexus S with ICS. I own a HP Touchpad.
And I've played with a few WP7 devices.

Despite the amount of flak MS gets for Windows on the desktop, they're still way more knowledgable about OS design and UI design than Google. It's no surprise that the top three would all be from companies who have worked on mobile devices longer than Google has existed.

I would choose Windows Mobile.

Android feels like iOS but not quite finished.

Windows Mobile is something different entirely.

If I was to change, it would be to something new that has made its own decisions.

Meaningless information and not true for 7.5. My Lumia 800 connects to WiFi faster than any device in my house. And I have plenty of them.

Okay, I just got this quote notification....

Since all of your other devices are (as you implied) slow, != WP7 "1.5gen" devices being fast a wifi handshakes.

I've already had my old Focus (still have) and Focus S (returned due to a LOT of bugs, some were later corrected, some not), then Titan (sold, just didn't need a phone that wasn't as functional as a real tablet, yet too large to be a decent phone) side by side. It's no comparison, both second release devices (Focus S and Titan) were at least 3-4 seconds behind the old Focus in establishing a wifi handshake. Even my Focus was still slower (by about 2 seconds or so?) than my iPhone 4S in establishing a WiFi connection.

Either way, it might not affect some users, however, it's damn annoying for a phone with its GUI designed around having information instantly avalible.
