If you have a MacBook, is there any need to get an iPad?

Right now, I don't have an iPad but I do have the 2016 MacBook Pro. Why do people use iPads? Do you think its unnecessary to have both if the MacBook Pro could do the same things?

Super-portability. With a choice of screens from 4" to 12.9" and great battery life, the choice, between IOS and OSX, depends upon what software you need to run.
