I'm with Rogers, been with them for 5+ years so i have built up a reputation.A friend of mine works for rogers and told me all carriers here in canada started to switch to a different policy and all carriers now basically offer the same plans with different variants after Verizon scare. Basically contracts are now 2 years instead of 3 and theres different policies on upgrades as well. There isn't a flat rate anymore, its now a flex tab. So i wouldn't recommend switching because chances are you already have a better DATA plan if you have been with Bell for a few years. Also if you do end up switching, don't make the mistake of going with WIND. My brother had and was his biggest mistake. Theres a boat load of reasons why WIND is one of the worst but I won't go into it in this post lol.

PS; you're in a better situation if your contract is about to expire, now..you can basically get on the phone and demand services to an extent and chances are you might get a free phone out of it.

Thanks, for the advice. I currently have a 6GB data plan for $70/month (plus voice). Nothing really compares to it from the big 3. Wind is the only one that does. A friend of mine is on Mobilicity which has better plans as well. Right now, there is a lot of uncertainty with anything other than Robellus.

I actually want to just buy a phone outright because I don't want it locked to my carrier. International roaming rates through Bell is very expensive. Right now, I've got an old, unlocked phone so I can use Roam Mobility and just use it as a hotspot for my regular phone for data. The phone I would like to get is a Project Ara phone.

woah! finding or even scoring a plan with 6GB of data and voice is rare for 70$ a month. Especially with the new policies. Where i am there is no mobilicity. Definitley stay with Bell. You could always look online for a used or brand new in box phone thats unlocked on either eBay or Kijiji (not sure if you have that out west)

I'd wait until next month and see what Samsung announces for the Galaxy S6!

I think thats the plan! :p

Won't the S line always be a step below the Note line? Would they make the S6 that much better than the Note 4 or 5?
I think they will this year.....Then the Note lines follows with better specs and a better all around phone. The rumors are a big redesign for the S6 should be coming.

I really fluked out on that plan. A little over 2 years ago, I decided to change my plan from 5 free numbers to earlier evenings. That's it. The salesperson said there is a promotional plan available that had earlier evenings, 10 free numbers and 6GB of data (up from 1GB) and was cheaper than the plan I was on. I naturally took the deal.

Hopefully, they will still grandfather the plan. I cannot see my needing anything more for the foreseeable future. I still find my Galaxy S3 still a good phone and won't have a problem using it beyond my 3 year term.

I agree esp for many 2012-2013 smartphones. I think many people can go beyond 2-3 yrs if they take care of their phones and the battery doesn't degrade as fast. I still see people using iPhone 4/4s which are nearly a half-decade old. My girl uses an iPhone 3G as a backup and never changed the battery. It probably only has 2 hr SOT but for nearly 7-years old, it still works! I can't even use my phones on the floor without security guards checking my pockets, so now I am thinking getting a cheaper phone in case of thieves at work.

I am also due for an upgrade this year but I won't be in the US until August to renew my passport. As much as I talk smack abt Apple AND Samsung, I am sorta leaning towards them because of resell value. Either iPhone 6s or Note 5. But by Aug, they wouldn't be out yet. So I would have to settle for something like the Samsung Galaxy S6, HTC One M9, and LG G4. I don't expect Sony Xperia Z4 to be on AT&T. Hopefully most of the ones avail by spring will be heavily discounted by then. But even "settling" for something that isn't my first two choices should be good enough for 2-3 years. Hardware, software, and features have matured enough for me that I can pretty much settle for any decent flagship. My current phones are still good enough for me this year. Some of us just upgrade for the sake of upgrading...
