I sit here reading a book on a old pan tech element tablet loaded with ics. The tablet isn't even two years old and it's just a pos, very laggy and horrible battery made. I bought it for cheap for the sole purpose of just reading on it so I knew what I was getting into from the start so I'm not complaining but it made me think about some of the flaws of android.

1. As a current iPhone 5 user I will admit super boredom has fell on me using this thing, it's boring, and the os is stagnant. The keys are cramped the choice to make it taller and not wider was a dumb move and I miss big screen phones so yes, everyday I check Craigslist and try to find a HTc Evo lte and get back into the android game but I know it Clem's at a cost.

I'm sorry but with a 1440mah battery this little thing last a. Long time I'm literally on the bus 1 hour each way to and from work and the battery barely moves, browsing or watching videos this thing holds it down.

Android? Not so much with the exception on the note 2 with a battery size over twice as big. Android needs big power to perform well let's the be real the os isn't ready yet and it sells to mainly tech nerds who no offense will change phones underwear or cheapskates on prepaid like metro or boost and so forth. The older android phones just sucks the s2 with ics isn't fast it's pretty slow battery life just isn't good. Samsung had to throw big specs to get it to run decent and while yea it's more of a true mobile os compared to the very basic and limited iOS which. Can't barely multitask it comes at a huge price. Will any phone from last year get key lime pie and run good besides the note 2? And maybe nexus?

While I may get something for Craigslist to satisfy my desire for more space and a better keyboard I know it won't perform as good as iOS at everyday task. Something usually goes wrong battery drain. Lag it's always something and if undo it I don't expect the smooth iOS experience.

Samsung pretty much made android flaw free last year but look at what they had to do? The s4 should move like hot cakes as more people hate the tiny screen but once apple gives us a big screen expect declining android numbers.

My ipad 3 (less than one year old) lags and crashes alot more than my android phone.

----------

Don't think Android can outperform Apple when it comes to handling business tasks on a mobile device. With the huge load of apps for iOS there is little you can't do, at least I'm still to find such a task.

Android may be the more open OS, but iDevices surely aren't "dumb". Widgets and the like don't define smartphones for me.

With the s pen and large screen my note 2 definitely is easier for spreadsheets and the like than my old iphone. Not sure how an iphone could be better and I had them for 5 years.

So you compared a crappy cheap POS tablet to a brand new modern state of the art phone at that, to every single phone and device running Android, based on an older Andorid one, running an older OS, with a BIGGER SCREEN and concluded that battery life on every single Android phone and device blows? And you made no comment about which apps and services were running on the Android device, how old the Android device was, etc....yeah, good thing you aren't my doctor....you would see one person who looks like me, looked at his shoes and concluded I needed to have surgery on my neck for my stomach ache.

Ignore the others. I will say that the Element is a recent tablet, and you should simply root it. The lag is mainly from all the bloatware popping up in the background, and you will benefit from not having all that AT&T junk in it. There is no CyanogenMod for it, but you will get some nice out of it from just having the root access.

Making an observation about a cheap tablet running ooold Android is pretty biased, you mention that look what Samsung had to do to get it right, the point is now that they have it right let's focus on what's out now not the past. With that comparison we might as well go back to iPhone OS before it had copy and paste to be fair. I waited until the Note 2 to switch to Android so I waited until the worst was over and now it's awesome, much prefer this phone to the iPhone like many others (the reverse is true for many more people too!)

I'm gonna be very honest about Android for a minute

I've yet to see a android device last two years and run comparatively good compare to iOS devices. The pan tech element Isnt even two years ago. Remember AT&T charges I think 299 on contract for tablets as well as phones once I loaded Ics on it personally it became horribly slow. I can name a few other android phones that had the same issue.

Android is getting there but you have to take the good with the bad apple is already there even if it is plain and boring.

I think the s3 and note 2 have turned the corner for android phones, how they handle key lime pie will make a huge difference to apple people who are aware of the android device process and so forth.

But look what Apple had to do. Apple had to lock down iOS from the very beginning for iOS to earn that smooth trouble free reputation. And it worked, but now things are different. Android and brands like Samsung, Motorola, Sony, and etc: have pretty much matched the smoothness and trouble freeness that iOS is known for and are doing it with mostly higher specs, more features and being open. Slowly but surely, more consumers are asking Apple why they can't do the same.

I don't expect declining android numbers at all when the iPhone releases with a big screen.

This compared to installing Linux on a machine about that old and making run like new again?

I did that already

The note 2 already out does the iphone 5, jelly bean was the biggest breakthrough for android with their project butter(it doesnt lag), key lime pie they are focusing on battery life but with the note 2 its amazing already, far better than an iphone. Lets not think apple is perfect, when the 3g was updated to 4.0 it became useless. Im not an android fanboy, i have 2 macs, apple tv, ipad and had iphone for 5 years, but lets not get our eyes blurred and think its still top dog anymore compared to a high end android because there is a huge dif with the recent androids compared to ones even one year old. I have never even heard of pan tech.

----------

What if it could easily be proven that Android devices were made by the same child labor as the iPhones were?

Would you care at all?

Reality is that all the companies are just as bad as each other in this department.

Android fanobys are worse than Windows users. Remember in the old days when Windows fanboys would say their machine is better because more machines run Windows? Haha, reminds me of the same pre-teen **** that I see these days. The same same ole drivel. I've never understood the logic.

Let's stop saying how batteries make phones better and bringing Android into it, thereby saying Android is better.

So I could draw the same comparison between my "cheap" Nexus 7 tablet and the rather pricey iPad 1 I bought my parents that now stutters along?

Jailbreak your iPhone and run it like Android with widgets and such. You'll be sorely disappointed with the battery.

Will an Android phone from last year get key lime pie? Don't know. Will I be able to tell my iPhone is running iOS 7 without going to settings > general > about? Unlikely.

Apple phones at least run decent enough to be operable for at least 2 years. Yes apple 4 can't run maps and a couple other features but its still a usual device but you cannot say that about older android devices.

I had a Eco design it comes with 2.3 and once it updated to ics it became too slow to use and I had to sell it. I respect Samsung for upping the bar but I'm wondering how would the one x and the Motorola phone with one gig memory perform with key lime pie. Lets not forager the thunderbolt debacle.

While iOS is boring and everyday I kinda want to toss it away I won't lie. I'm scared to buy a android phone simply for the fact that I don't know how the next major update would go and that keeps me content with my iPhone.

I get offers from s3 owners everyday asking me if I want to trade my iPhone for the s3 but I know that the value declines big time on android.

I are the note 2 retains value though.

I also see a lot of a droid central members in the market place looking for iPhones lets admit all isn't good in android land.

Most of the defectors are just tired of the same ole same ole bit all isn't gravy on the other side.

Buy a good device and not a throw away brand like pantech before you make these judgements.

Find me a proven android device that can go a full 2 years on contract that can be usable without lag ill wait. Don't say s3 since it hasn't been out a year yet.

I'll wait

Is this a joke? A restore from new is a huge pain but has a HUGE effect on speed on iOS devices. I did my 2nd one on my 4S since I got it on 1-2-12. So every six months. Feels like a new phone.

ava7yne3.jpg

Notice the dates, plus the fact that's the entire list. In a month that list will have pages of entries.

I could have ignored that lag and slow downs but I'm a realist. Mobile OS's (any OS) aren't perfect and are prone to slow downs and build ups of cache and wasted space.

OP, what the hell is the point of your posts? You spew BS statements and when confronted with reasoning and user anecdotes about using Android devices, you act like your opinion is superior and is the right answer no matter what is said.

I don't understand your logic. You point out that Samsung needs high specs to run as smooth as your iPhone 5. Why do you care how they achieve this? The iPhone and a phone like the GS3 cost the same on contract and off. As long as the customer isn't footing the bill, why does it matter how the manufacture achieves a smooth OS? The fact that you need to point this out shows your biased towards the iPhone.

Crashes on my Nexus 4? 1 in the month that I've had it. Crashes on my iPod Touch 5th gen? at least 1 every day or so. But I'm not going to call out iOS and say it's bad. Much less make a thread about it.

Bottom line:
