Hi,
My Mac Mini has 16GB, memory pressure never gets into yellow, I use a Vega64 eGPU with the mini. My Macbook Pro is a base 8GB with 128Gb of storage.
My budget wont stretch to a 32GB 1Tb model, so its weighing up the advantages of a Pro vs a 15" Air with 24GB and 1Tb which is my ideal expansion option.

The pro being able to support dual screens and a better quality screen are intriguing advantages.

honestly if battery is not a priority, the m1 mbp 14inch with 32gb ram should be within the same price as a new 15inch specced.

Fair point, I've had a look around but cant find any with that config in the UK, I wouldn't go down the eBay route though.

Hi Everyone,
New member with another bit of advice.
I'm contemplating a Macbook Pro 16" but wondering if 16gb would be enough, for the next 5 years. Basic video editing in Resolve, hobby coding and general use. Built in SD Card makes up for 512GB of storage. Want something to replace my Mac Mini 2018 and Macbook Pro 2017 in one purchase.
I'll cut to the chase - I would go for 32 gigs RAM. If this is a legit case of wanting to future proof - I would get 512/32 before 1tb/16 any day of the week. In your case, coding and editing benefit nicely. In the future, your editing may. be still infrequent but the abilities of the apps go up as does the requirements for the cpu/graphics and RAM.

Fair enough then, I've asked for advice and my gut has been telling me 32GB is the best option so thats what I will go with. Better to save a bit longer and make the purchase that I know I won't regret :)

Amazon prime days coming up soon. A lot of other companies also start discounting at that time too so worth holding tight for a bit.

I got my 16" MBP M2 1TB from Very for £1600ish. They tend to be the cheapest often so worth having a look.

The 15" is new and so it is at the peak of its hype. Happens with every new device (particularly the computers).

Update:
Managed to get a 14inch M1 32GB 1Tb on the refurbished store for the preice of a base M2 - £2149. Pretty decent but I'm concerned there may be issues such as a big scratch or a funky battery.

Hi,
Collected my 14" M1 Pro from the Mac store in Liverpool. Not a scratch or mark on it that I can see. Will run through all the usual tests over the weekend to see how it performs (Cinebench, Disk Mark and Blackmagic Speed Test). General use has been smooth so far, keyboard, trackpad and ports all good.

Had a look at the 15" Air and the 16" Pro the larger screen is nice but I'm pleased with what I have as I've picked up a good machine for my needs.

Thanks to everyone for the advice.
