I have been on hold for approx 56 min and still holding...After 20 min a gentleman came on the phone and was very nice...I told him I bought my 8 gig Iphone on Iday and wondered if anything is being offered. He said yes a price protection is in affect as of today for those that bought on Iday, but I would need to talk with Customer service. As stated on hold with them now.

I dont really care about the refund but thought I would try...I have been reading where many are credited. Cant hurt to try...I will keep you updated!

We bought ours 1 day after iDay and our refund/exchange transaction was not a problem at the Apple Store.

I just did the same thing and was eventually told that they protection policy was for people who bought it < 14 days. I was polite...

I hope you have better luck and please post if you do.

I bought mine at an At&t store and after holding for about an hour the guy said no such luck on a refund that far out. He did say I would have to contact AT&T though and not apple due to buying the phone from them...I guess I will give that a shot just to see...

bleh..sorry to hear. I too had a similar reply except they said that I need to go to the apple store where I had bought the phone.

I think that the people that bought a phone from AT&T are screwed, me included. Last time AT&T did something right was when... umm... I can't remember the last time AT&T did something right.

Heres what i dont get.

The FACT that certian "reps and stores" ARE infact going forward for the price diffierence refund for people OUTSIDE of the 14 day purchace window just PROVES that they can and are doing it.

I explained this to 2 diff stores and they both assured me that it was a mistake and never should have happened.

How about some freeking consistancy APPLE!

Early adopers are getting screwed here. Products get cheaper yes. But this is out of hand.

Either refund us ALL or DONT refund anyone outside of the 14 day window.

Instead of getting all in a hissy, why not wait until Apple releases the "Official Refund" details, this all just sounds like a bunch of hear-say. We all knew on iDay that the price was going to drop and that we were all going to get screwed.

Yes there was going to be a price drop at some time... But 33% just over two months is a little hard to swallow. No phone has dropped so much in the same time frame without a carrier discount...

Agreed, but again, it should be ALL OR NONE for those of us outside the 14 day window, and that is not what is happening, that's why a lot of people are pissed off.

yeah when i first heard the price announcement i said ..oh ok..well that kinda sucks but oh well

but now hearing that some people that got it the smae day as me on iday are getting refunded that really does fn anger me

Yes especially in the last three months. I think more pressing issues is how badly iLife '08 is and I am still mad about the new iMac.

What I was saying is that as fair as Apple being loyal to their customers there is bigger fish to fry as it were. It was a stupid move for Apple to not have their Official policy out at the time of announcement. I would think that people outside if the window of 14 days that got a refund today might be in for a surprise when Apple releases the policy.

well ether way this is just one of the issues I think they need to deal with. iLife and the iMac could have been much better. Apple is starting to head in a down word slope and I'm not liking it. However I do agree that something should be done about us who got ours before the 5th.

After being on hold for close to an hour, I was granted a greaaaaaaaaaaaat sales representative who not only told me I was sh t out of luck, but his supervisor would be GLAD to also tell me I was sh t out of luck. :)

I bought mine on iDay, 4gb. $535 plus activation, walk into a store tomorrow, buy an 8gb for $424, plus activation. If Apple made an iGun, I would put it in my mouth and blow my iBrains out.

Makes you wonder what they were thinking....

They have potentially pissed off about a million customers... and what does it do for their iPhone sales as others now wait another two months for a $100-200 price drop....

My rebate check is in the mail, right?

I mean seriously... Apple has probably already mailed me a check for $200. In fact, I bet they sent it out yesterday via Express Mail. It should be in my mailbox tomorrow by noon. This will be so cool!

I was ready and excited to buy mine on June 29th, and I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I fully expected to see the price go down eventually. To have it go down by one-third is incredible. To have it go down by one-third two months after debut is beyond astounding.

For Apple to not find some way to make it up to those of us who saved up to be able to afford it in the first place, waited in line for a full day, and stepped up to the plate right away, would be ummm... slightly unsatisfactory.

There... I was polite. I have to go deal with the pain from biting my tongue now.

Poor Customer Service

I am a paying .mac subscriber and was banned from posting on the Apple forums for relentlessly posting about the treatment that I have received after 20 years as an Apple customer. A dark day for Apple.
