I oredered my BTO 15" through an Apple reseller on the 10th. I just found out it will not ship till the 28th. I am so mad:mad:
My TiBook is dying and I need this like now.
I called Apple and got the usual "it's in heavy demand" BS.
I guess this is one of those times when patience is a virtue.
I suspect something is going on here....like manufacturing problems or the like? Maybe the screen issue?
Does that mean all of us waiters might get a rev2 machine?
Such intrigue

Yes, I have the same problem! I ordered it on the 9th too. It's 25 november now, but they will have bad luck to deliver it on a saturday!

Same story here. Ordered a C2D Macbook Pro 2.33/3GB/160Gb/Matte on Oct. 26 through campus bookstore. Ship date is now November 30.

Similar stories and my rant about Apple's treatment of educational institutional orders is in this thread . What ever happened to Apple's close relationship with schools?

I ordered my RevA 15" MBP right after they were announced at MWSF '05 in early January. Assembly finally began toward the end of February. It was completed on 27Feb, shipped from a Shanghai suburb and on my front doorstep the 28th. Granted, they picked up a day with the IDL, but still....

Production issues with Apple - yes; shipping issues with Apple? Not no how...

my university store is similarly saying that it'll be a month for new macbooks...
I ordered one the day the c2d MB came out...The guy was super rude but basically said 'they announced it, they're not shipping' which I thought was odd since the apple website said they were 'available immediately'
Anyhow, I'm looking at december.
I'd order from the website, but apple's swell choice for a shipping company lost my last one and I'm NOT going through that nightmare again.
If it helps, Im in vancouver, the uni is SFU

It's BS that a brand new laptop that lots of people have been waiting to buy is in heavy demand? That seems like a pretty good explanation of what's going on if you ask me. It's in Apple's best interest to get you your laptop as fast as they can so I don't really see where you're coming from here...

Patience *is* a virtue, and the only way to guarantee that you'll get your computer on a certain date is to buy it in a store yourself.

It's not BS that a laptop is in high demand. What is BS is that Apple manipulates the shipping queue so that those ordering through campus bookstores get the shaft. Don't believe me? Check out this thread.

Is there anyone out there who ordered a C2D 15" 2.33/3GB/160GB before Nov. 1 from Apple online that is still waiting? The only people I can find on this forum in this situation are those who ordering through campus stores. I understand that it's Apple's right to make the business decision of "Screw dumb students who shop on campus" but institutional orders (like mine) also go through these stores. Needless to say, after this treatment I won't be switching my research group to Macs anytime soon.

i have the same problem. won't ship til' 27th and expected delivery of dec. 6th. i ordered on nov. 15. call 1800myapple and complain, they gave me a free case and expedited shipping(whenever the hell they decide to ship it that is) to try to make me happy. If another delay, i'm going to say its either $200 off, or i'm buying a dell. If they don't accept my proposal, i'll just accept it and say, how about a free copy of parallels while i wait? and maybe final cut pro(that would be pushin it). I would never give up a mac for a dell so don't flame me.

I would like to point out that I made use of my ADC Membership hardware discount to order my MBP, so it's not through the education store. I bought it via the mobile phone as a ADC Student.

I ordered (3) 15 2.33/3GB/160/matte machines on the morning of Oct 25th through My k-12 Institute account, got the delay email pushing me back until Nov 29th. Lots of discussion with my apple rep ended up getting my machines shipped yesterday and today. SHe had to do a product priority request or some such thing. I even gave her the web order # of an order placed after mine for identical machines that were delivered almost 2 weeks ago now. Just waiting on Fed Ex and the holiday now.

That's good news. My campus rep claimed they would do a "priority request" but it hasn't been as successful as yours. Would you mind sharing that web order # that I can use in my complaint?

So, let me get this straight, if you ordered from Apple and was given a reasonable ship date for your order, then the day after this intended ship date rolls around apple moves it 3-4 weeks ahead, without even an email to inform you, nor any explanation, you wouldn't bitch at all? Add that to the fact that it seems to be only Edu orders that are getting this royal treatment, and in my special case that i am leaving the country next week, and a good sound bitchin' is a warranted.

here endeth the rant. :p

I'm with you on this one Smueboy, if I order something and it's promised within a certain date, they should deliver, not change their minds after and then bump it later just to satisfy demand in usual channels. If they really have that much problem supplying the goods and want to cut back on the educational channel, well then do that for the new orders, not ones that are already placed.
That's just garbage and terrible customer relations.

Just my bit of input:

Its worth the wait. You'll be very pleased when you get it. So sit back, relax, and plan on what you'll be doing with it =)

OK, but when it says on the Apple Ed Store "Ready to ship in 4 days", but when you actually order that gets pushed back to 6 days, now its up to 10 days and still no sign of it shipping (and no email explaining what is going on) - you would be fine with that? Its just poor customer service.

wow... sorry to hear that.. Ours shippe dout on and Arrived on Monday this week. And it was an Education price/custom order, so I dont think the discounted get jipped in priority.

However a call was made to Apple because the original ship date was earlier and an email was sent out saying a week later or so. The laptop was needed for an important project, and after a good talk with Apple customer support, they had it 2 day shipped from China

Hopefully everything will work out for you :(

Education price, but where did you order? From what I can determine the major difference in priority is not regular price vs. education price, but ordering through Apple vs. ordering through a reseller. In many cases like mine, educational institution orders go through a reseller (e.g. the campus bookstore), so the appearance is that Apple gives the shaft to education.

I'm still waiting on my 15" C2D/3Gb/160Gb/Matte. Ordered on 10/26 through a campus bookstore, now supposed to ship on 11/30. I think the hold-up now is on the 3Gb configuration, as even the online Apple store now displays a long lead time (7-10 business days) on these. However, this was not always the case. It seems that Apple depleted their supply of this chip on orders placed after mine, while my order sat at the back of the bus. Apples for education? NOT!
