If you love iPhones but hate what Apple is becoming, then grab an S6 or S6 Edge. They are brilliant!

like it or hate it. Apple has always been primarily about fashion as well as functionality. People love android because a lot of the phones are functionality first then fashion second. Sadly I see Samsung are heading the same way as Apple.

A fashion company (see: Beats, Gold laptops, $17k Gold Watches, etc.)

You clearly do not have recollections of every fashionista home magazine from the late 90's upwards when they would always have an apple product in there somewhere as it was part of fashion aspiration.

Apple has always been an aspirational 'fashionable' company. Nothing has changed in that regard - except they have in the last 10 years become far more 'accessible' and within reach financially of average Joe Soap.

Just look at the price of the new MacBook Retina 2015 compared to the original MacBook Air .......

They used to do this while still being innovative. iOS, the iPhones, the Beats headphones really have done nothing to advance the state of the art, besides become slimmer.

It used to be that I would be able to marvel (yes, even with the original Macbook Air, though it was pricey) about the technology that made such a thing feasible.

These days the focus appears to be fashion first, technology second. I never had that vibe from the Steve Jobs era. Even though, I admit - I loved the design of their products.

I think we are seeing the limits of the Jony Ive design era at Apple with the products being released.

For iPhone die-hards thinking about making the switch, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are the best transition devices ever made.

Giving up my IP6+ but wanted to get my toes wet first with stock android and the Nexus 6.

I am very intrigued about the Edge and hope to grab one as prices come down and its more fleshed out on day to day performance in the next 3-6 months. I dont mind being a little behind in the ever updating cell phone race unlike some of the buy every phone produced crowd on MR. No names given. ;)

Wow, how do you like the Nexus 6 compared to the iPhone 6+?

Wow, how do you like the Nexus 6 compared to the iPhone 6+?

I am supposed to get it Thursday so I will report back then. All signs report to me being disappointed in battery life, camera, and width of the device after coming from the 6+. BUT I am excited for that QHD screen, front facing speakers, and wireless charging.

With that being said I am ok with those factors to try pure Android Lollipop for the first time and give it a test run as I normally switch between the 2 operating systems twice a year or so.

Oh, nice. Good luck.

The camera is still one thing I still miss using my OnePlus instead of my iPh6.

Picked up a white S6 64gb from Best Buy a couple of hours ago they even threw in the wireless charger that was available for preorder.

I'm getting it set up now and I really like it so far. The biggest thing I like so far is My Knox. I use one device for company/personal BYOD and I like that I can store our messaging application and my email in the My Knox and it keeps it separate from all my personal stuff.

It reminds me a ton of an iPhone, it feels similar looks similar. We will see how it goes!

I got to mess around with the S6 and S6 Edge at BB; I like the S6 design better.

The edge still feels gimmicky to me.

But tell you what, Samsung did a great job with both displays.

Let us know how it goes, I'm thinking about ditching my iPhone 5s for the s6 because i need a new taste of something more. I love the fact that my iPhone just works but after having for for 4 plus years and nothing really changing its becoming stale. Plus the iPhone 6 or 6+ wasn't enough of a upgrade of my 5s for me to justify for price.

So far I like it. I feel like the battery goes a bit faster than my 6 did. I'm usually near a charger anyhoo so I'm not sure how much this is really going to matter for me.

I really like that Samsung added the ability to add themes right on the phone. There is a Samsung app called Theme Store. It'll give you a background and change the icons to match the theme, pretty cute. I'm not into all those launchers, romming, rooting stuff. So the ability to make my phone all pink easily won a few points.

Other than that so far I am liking it! All of the apps I had on my iPhone I have on the S6. I don't notice any difference between the Android versions and my iPhone versions. Granted I only use really big name apps, Evernote/Bank of America/ tapatalk/facebook/pandora/spotify etc. All look similar to their iPhone counterparts.

I had an S5 for a couple of months as a company phone and enjoyed that but this S6 feels like a nice improvement over the S5 (to me). I don't feel that it's laggy, the fingerprint sensor surprisingly works just about as good as Touch ID on my 6 ( I say "about" because I'm not used to the rectangle button over the circle so this is most likely user error). Also the 64gb version came with about 55gb free out of the box.

Will I stay on it forever? Who knows, I'm taking it a day at a time. I got a 5c as backup in case I decide I just miss iOS too much. :p

Someone mentioned they didn't know if they should get a 6, if it were me I would wait. I love the 6 but I didn't find it to be a HUGE difference from the 5c. I had to buy it off contract as I was on prepaid and had a hard time justifying that price. I'm now on ATT and put the S6 on Next and will have it paid off shortly just so I'm ready should I want the 6s :)

EDIT: Also! For you indecisive folks such as myself the S6 takes a nano SIM. This way you can flip flop freely between your iPhone and s6! I did not know this until I was doing the upgrade! :)

I will admit I do think Apple appeals to those of us that are more into fashion. They do have fashionable things. I liked the gold iPhone/gold iPads because it looks good. I like the new MacBook because it looks good, I know that specs per dollar it's not much better than a Chromebook or low end Winblows laptop but it sure looks a hell of a lot better.

I wear gold jewelry why shouldn't my phone, macbook and iPad also match!?

Apples financials indicate the opposite. Sales are a barometer that a product is designed for their target market.

I've heard good things from Samsung Galaxy and LG lineups. But if you want to cheat with an even wilder option that doesn't even use Android, seek out a Nokia Lumia (Windows Phone) or one of the new BlackBerrys (BB10) which are both superb in my opinion.

Is WP still around??? Haven't heard much talk about it in what feels like a long time. Was at a Google Mobile Advertising conference today, Android and iOS seem to be the only platforms that matter.

It isn't cheating if you can be happy using both platforms. This isn't the early 90's anymore where we had to choose between Nintendo vs SEGA. Android and iOS are not our girlfriends or wives. I think the industry would be boring if there was only one dominant OS. We need options and not a North Korean communism with such a uniformed control.

I can see myself going back to iOS if Apple does two things. Lessen the iTunes reliance of moving media files as copy and pasting files is much faster than iTunes syncing and Bluetooth data transfer to other OSes. Open iOS a little more. I can live without sd slot, removable battery, and water-resistance. I like iPhone hardware but iOS is still restrictive to tighten their ecosystem.

But seeing that Apple is raking in billions by not changing their formula so much, I may NEVER see that happen unless Apple finally gets desperate. I would also like the makers of SwiftKey to give iOS a much better port. Until then, I might end up sticking to the little green robot for life since it works better for a PC world. I am not asking for much except the ability to copy & paste files onto folders and Bluetooth data transfer to any OS.

The iTunes reliance needs to go. So archaic and draconian. Apple can still use iTunes but give us flexibility. Steve Jobs is gone. This isn't the 2000's anymore when Apple tried selling us iPods and Tim Cook has more of an open wallet to charity and doesn't seem to rule Apple with an iron fist. Let's see some changes that doesn't just benefit Apple and their users but for EVERYONE.

I couldn't even tell you the last time I had to use iTunes, it's been awhile! I always used a third party program to transfer files etc but now that that's patched up can't do that anymore.

I don't think we will see iOS "open up" anytime soon if anything it's closing more and more. :(

Galaxy s6 or s6 edge if you want a great camera and the fastest phone out. Arguably better all around then the iphone.

Lg g3 If you want something cheaper with a good camera.

Neither are stock android, but both are good.

I guess the one plus one is a good option as well.

It's than not then.

What is better is a matter of personal taste. For me Samsung sucks and the iPhone 6 is too big.

At the end of the day ,a galaxy A5 will serve you just as well as an S6 for a fraction of the price.

I did the same. You'll be back.

Just got a 5s today. I gave away my android crap nobody wanted.

I think you should get it. You'll love it at first, but I have to tell you, that brick in your pocket will get heavier and heavier.
