ugh why did you have to go and get IN STOCK on me Amazon! :p

the previous 'will ship in xx weeks' was giving me a buffer of time to think things over :apple:

I think that you can get the $30 off .mac even if you buy from Amazon. When you register with Apple they send you an email offering you .mac for $69. However, I wanted a family pack and got one for $99 from eBay ($I think it is $179 from Apple).

It just shipped, so, hopefully I'll have it tomorrow, as I did pay for next day shipping =D

I doubt it'll have Leopard on it or with it, so I'll be doing the up-to-date thing.

I'm looking at the 24" 2.8GHz model and will upgrade to 4M of aftermarket RAM. By starting with the 2.4MHz model and upgrading the processor and HD, then considering my 7% sales tax, the total ends up being the same when comparing the Apple Store to Amazon. And that doesn't include the student discount or the $100 printer rebate from Apple. (And the 2.8GHz model is still at "4-6wks" on Amazon)

I guess Amazon isn't the best choice for all configurations.

Huh, I checked that out and you save 5 bucks on Apple that way. I wonder if the 2.8 gets more sales than the 2.4 on Amazon so they don't have as good a sale?

Hrm, I didn't get a $69 offer for .Mac when I registered my new iMac. (two days ago?)

always

I have been buying my macs from amazon for 2+ years now. Macbooks, imacs, they are always cheaper, sometimes a lot. I think my first 20" imac was 300$ cheaper all in. State with no sales tax helps too, nothing to declare - officially.

they have great customer service too.

I bought my wife an iMac from amazon earlier this year, and it was cheaper than the same refurb iMac from Apple.

Don't let Twinkie hear you aren't declaring your sales tax.

I just bought a 24" 2.4 from Amazon. I ordered one last week, but they ran out of stock after saying they did have it. I then debated getting the 2.8, but the price from Amazon with the rebate won me over.

Should get it Monday. Very excited. One of my co-workers got his last week, and Adobe CS3 runs great on it.

Congrats, these are apparently shipping right away, which is good news. (even if an item is 'in stock' sometimes at Amazon, in rare instances they still don't ship out)
