Packed up and shipped the DOA model as a return before dinner tonight.

Making my new order now…

I’ll be in trouble if I have to go all of September without a proper computer. Going from the perfection of my max spec Late-2015 5K iMac to my base model Early-2011 13-inch MacBook Pro has been a bit of shock.
I certainly jinxed myself here, it’s getting catastrophic at this point. My new order arrived and was thoroughly beat by UPS in transit:

72F15054-E1ED-43B9-BA6E-1B3E26DDA39E.jpeg

Open, re-“sealed”, wet through to interior, holes through to interior, sand and small stones throughout. But hey, it turned on.

I have also confirmed and recorded the screen tearing/white line glitch. I voted in the poll. It occurred during setup assistant. I honestly haven’t looked at the computer since but I’ll look for the corner render issue when I have the heart.

My replacement had its ass kicked by UPS as well. Sloppy retake job as well. What gives?

I hope you guys are reporting this to Apple and sharing images. The Ace Ventura approach is not working for UPS and they need to do better. These are thousands of dollars worth of hardware. You don't just toss it around like your grandma's ashes. Jesus, people. I hope mine ships with FedEx, which is marginally better or DHL which is usually a lot better... or maybe they can just hand it over to Amazon. That would be best.

I did call them, explained briefly but the agent seemed unable to do much regarding expediting the next computer, or whatever. Asked for a manager (will require callback with five day turnaround). Working from home and additional call volume has probably put strain on them. I did receive a boilerplate email from Apple requesting a series of photos of the package, I sent them.

I’m starting to think about contacting Apple. I want this solved. 4200+ on this machine and the no-comment approach is infuriating.

Well guys this is the end of journey with this post for me, after 2 replacement the second came worst on lines and freezes before reach the 14th day period decided to return and get refund. the lady on support told me they put a note on every Mac is returned and the issue addressed to the engineer ! as said previously sold my 27 in late 2015 in June at £ 1000 - and just kept my MBP2014. fortunately on Monday looking for temporal iMac found a New High Specs 2019 with 580X from Currys UK for £ 1599. got it and working like a dream, understand is last year iMac but between £3250 to £1599 the difference is massive !! also the newer didn't work properly, may replace this in couple years time ( who knows ) just feel after bad experience with 2011 model no want repeat the history again... good luck cross fingers Apple get solution to this.

Still occasionally seeing corner issues on the 5500XT (pic attached). Definitely no white lines though, 3 weeks in.

I think a few times I’ve seen a faint white overlay over the whole screen after logging in which seems to go away on its own after a few seconds. It makes the whole display appear a little washed out – it’s so subtle and so inconsistent that I’m not 100% sure I’m not imagining it but I have to admit I’m a little bit on high alert for graphics issues. Anyone else notice this?
It must be Catalina as I have the same issue on a 16" MBP. (the faint white overlay)

I am not experiencing any of the graphics issues...at least not yet. Could the reason that some people have the problem while others don’t is that the overall configuration of each iMac is related to the problem? My configuration is in my signature; is anyone with the same configuration experiencing the graphics issues; even more importantly, of the other 28 people who are not having issues, what is your iMac’s configuration? Oh, one more thing, what third-Party RAM is everyone using...mine is OWC, perhaps that my have a bearing on the problem.

How long you have been not experiencing glitches?

Hi, I got the new iMac two weeks ago, it's coming with a 5700 XT. First time I boot it, I got the screen issue (omg), but 2 minutes after, i did not notice it again. I transfer my old stuff from my previous iMac (late 2015), then I replace the original RAM with 32 Gigs from Crucial. Install Windows etc. But since then, I never notice again the issue. BTW, the is a firmware update that come with Big Sur beta 8, 1554.40.18.0.0 (iBridge: 18.16.12380.5.1,0). Not sure at all is related to the graphic card.

I'm sorry for those who has the issue.

I'm exactly in the same situation.
First boot with the original RAM I've got some glitch during the boot.
Ram replace with 2 X 32 gb Hyper X
Test of several resolutions on the monitor and return to default.
No glitch since 12 days ....

I still hope for APPLE to deliver a patch for those who encounter this problem ...
maybe me in a few days :(

I have had my iMac for two weeks. I use it at least 4-6 hours every day and more when I have multiple recording sessions planned for the same day. I have never experienced the graphics issues reported to date. My iMac is primarily used for audio recording, mixing and mastering which places a heavy load on the entire computer, including the graphics sub-system.

Sorry, I left the most important piece of info out of my signature, I have added it. I have the 5700XT. The digital audio workstation software I utilize (Luna) places a heavy metal graphics load on the video sub-system so I went for the hi end video card with the best metal graphics performance.

I hope that upgrading to Big Sur is not the only solution to the graphics issues that Apple eventually has to offer to those that are experiencing the problems. Anyone utilizing their iMac for professional audio recording will not be able to upgrade to Big Sur for possibly a year while all the audio software companies update their software to work with it. So, Apple will need to offer a solution that also works with Catalina. Many recording studios still haven’t upgraded to Catalina at this point.

It happens to me on Big Sur now so don’t worry about it.

Is anyone experiencing graphics issues so intensely that it renders their iMac unusable or is the extent of the issues more annoying in nature? Are the issues preventing you from using your iMac?
