While I noticed there have been unfixed bugs for a decade, and I get the shutdown weird screen thing too, does it prevent you from "work"? Stop you from gaming? prevent web browsing? Sure its a bit annoying but they have bigger issues than that to worry about. Its not a "moral" question at all. Its simply one of "new features" vs. tech debt. Personally I'd prefer a lot less "new", and a lot more bug fixing and code optimizations, but that doesn't sell computers.
Earlier versions of this bug had this happening not just at shutdown, but during normal use as well, such as after switching resolutions.
On earlier versions of Big Sur, the midpoints of the two halves of the screen would gradually shift apart, causing different grays and blacks.
These same graphics cards have documented bugs in Chromium browsers causing severe framerate issues during scrolling.
These same graphics cards will freeze plugins in Logic causing the whole session to crash.
So I would say it absolutely does affect working and web browsing. Not sure about gaming.
Apple has a standard of excellence which is why we pay premium prices for these computers. These 2020 iMacs fall way, way, short of that.
