nice shots. the G5 comparison shot ALMOST gives a good sense of how big that thing is.

what's the trouble with vista? 1.1.1 boot camp is supposed to fix the installation issues, or so i read.

when did you place your order? i'm trying to get an idea when mine might be coming in.

Wow. Have you played any games at 1900x1200 yet? Curious about the fps at that sort of resolution.

The nano vs. 24'' iMac comparison is fun. :D

thanks for doing this test! I was thinking about adding another G5 (ironically a dually 2.7) to my arsenal, but after this test, unless i get a wicked deal, I think i'll save my pennies to get a macpro or an imac. wicked!

i play HL2 at 1920x1200 w/ 4xAA and everything on, get a steady 40fps, looks amazing (definitely the game that has impressed me the most so far)

you may want to hold a couple months for the mac pro. cause they may update it with the quad chips. which would also hopefully drop down the price on the current chips. so apple can adjust their pricing.

(hoping)

@zoomzoom, just did doom high quality 1920x1200 clocked 44.7fps, quite adequate me thinks. ok i can now take requests, however, i dont really have any other games lol, photoshop etc is ok, i plan to have a play with maya too.

for those interested in the imac 24", i must say it is amazing. i was worried about rosseta performance coming from a powermac G5 but, so far its been fine, better than fine (and i here the next os update improves rosetta even more)
the screen is sooo bright (not to mention big) and the speakers have let me get rid of my external ones, i remember the imac G4's internal speakers, this is in another league lol.
i cannot recommend this computer more, i really was worried about the jump to intel, but so far so good, i will have to install windows (1st attempt at vista failed) as i need to run some high end 3D animation software until it goes universal.:D :D :D

Nice. You sure have a lot of excess cash. :) Good. I just may have one of those 24"ers myself, soon.

Not to be critical, but...
Turn off the flash, turn on the room lights, hold the camera steady, and your gear pictures won't have that flat, glaring look. They'll take on a mellow, laid back appearance.

VERY nice pictures. I think it almost captures the true size of that thing :). I saw one in person yesterday at an Apple service center by my place (had to get iMac HDD replaced.. took only 2 hours!) and it is absolutely massive. Almost too big, but if you ask me you can never really have too much screen.

Congrats on the sweetass iMac.

Thanks for the pics. EyeTV looks great! Does it use full 1920x1200 for sharp menu text?

Not bad.

PS, what's the difference between High and Ultra in Doom? IS it FSAA or more than that?

After seeing one in person today, (at last, but back at work on Saturday and if we haven't already got one on display, it will be on my return), I am now tempted to go for this over the 20" model. My reasoning is to get a decent aerial and an EyeTV for DTT and ditch my TV. If needed can always dual display and keep the TV, (no DTT for that).

It truely is a stonker.

That's what I'm doing. Good bye TV!
