Is anybody with bootcamp able to post the results of the Windows 7 Experience Index on the i5 or i7 ? with ATI Radeon HD 5750 so mid 2010... i cant find any similar post on the forum...

There is a thread about the windows experience in the Windows on Mac forum but covers all different machines. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/631734/

I just posted mine in there but here it is. This is a mid-2010 i7. The bottleneck is the disk score and if you see at the bottom there are recommendations for improving it as it says I do not have 1 gb of contiguous space for proper testing. I am not that worried about it to be honest, it's just a test.

THIS[/URL]! Finally some benchmarks that are not synthetic and the comparison is as clear as it can be

Thanks, that's the most complete head to head comparison I've seen yet of the exact two processors being discussed here. I'd say it is very clear. The Core i7 enjoys a small advantage on most things and a more significant advantage on a very few specific things. But nowhere does it have anything like the 50% - 100% advantage some misinformed sheep in this thread have claimed. Is it worth $200? Not to me. I spent $140 on an 8GB RAM upgrade instead.

I feel like I'm going to go the same way as you did ..... Even worse here in Blighty we pay almost £160 ($252 extra), ridiculous when you consider the price difference between the 2 processors is about £63 ($100)

Best of luck! I received my 27" Core i5 on Monday but I'm still waiting for the additional 8GB of memory to arrive from Crucial.

Interesting that you blokes are being robbed of another $52 for the priviledge of living in the UK. I wonder if that's going in Apple's pocket or it's VAT or some other government tax helping the Exchequer dig out of that hole they're in. If it makes you feel any better, our tax increases are a forgone conclusion. They just haven't happened yet. But never fear, we are sharing the same trench as the UK government at the moment.

Lets not even mention VAT as it goes up next year by 2.5% to a nice round 20%!
