Great to know I’m not alone. Not.

Frequent Sleep Wake failures on 2 different MacBooks (early and late 13’s)

As this develops, it seems that much of the problem is that 10.13.4 made changes to how external devices work, and Apple either didn't properly brief the developers of RAID software, or a lot of the 3rd-party software for external drives was never really compliant with the OS interface standards to begin with.

In my case, I didn't reinstall the Western Digital monitoring app that came with my WD RAID, so I don't get false error reports on the drives anymore.

Bad news is that I still get sleep reboots whenever my eGPU (the same model that Apple actually sold developers last summer) is plugged in.

It does seem to be an issue with my RAID (Pegasus2) as it has stopped responding a few times now after waking from sleep. Just found out there was new firmware issued last year, installed it and will see how it goes.

Since replacing the Fusion Drive with an SSD from Samsung in my late 2012 iMac, I too have been plagued by this. But it could also be a coincidence - how can I be sure what is causing the issue? I have read that a lot of users with older hardware are having this issue without having made any physical changes to their systems.

So far so good for me (2+ days).

I've had this happen to me on Wednesday for the first time since I've purchased the 2017 iMac 5K (base model) in early April. It worked flawlessly for the first ˜50 days without a single crash. I put it to sleep every night and woke it up every morning or after a weekend without any problems whatsoever. On Tuesday night I put it to sleep but couldn't wake it up on Wednesday - it was completely dead. Had to power it up from scratch.

The only thing that changed between Monday afternoon, when it was still working perfectly fine, and Tuesday: I finally enabled FileVault on my 1 TB FusionDrive on Tuesday morning, at which point s**t started hitting the fan (had several issues unrelated to this wake/crash situation). Maybe there's a connection between FileVault and this wake/crash issue. Also running 10.13.4 by the way.

Still no sleep/wake failures. The latest update appears to have made sure the computer doesn't wake prio to my external raid waking. It is slower to wake, but isnt crashing anymore.

Sleep Wake failures have started to regularly occur again....possibly still related to external TB raid (it stays on but is unresponsive on restarting MB pro)
