Actually, I disagree. The madder we get and the louder we yell at Apple, the quicker things will get fixed. The squeeky wheel....

You don't understand the art of getting your way as a customer do you? A loud yelling customer is never heard as an annoyed one is with a very low tone.

Which is why until people really started complaining Apple ignored or even tried to cover the issue up? Some people are so naive.

Now I'm not advocating going down to your nearest Apple store and shaking the living daylights out of the nearest employee but a concerted effort on our part to explain to Apple how frustrating it is to spend $2000 on a computer that can't be relied upon to stay up for even a few minutes is going to make a difference.

I can't believe how many timid mice there are here. Did you all drink too much of the Kool-Aid?

This isn't doing any good and just wasting net space and your time by continuing to keep in the complaining of an issue that is already documented, already admitted, already told a fix is coming. I've mentioned it in another post, they're working on it and I for one would rather they get it right than put out a half-ass driver that doesn't address the core issue but merely provides workarounds that could potentially be more problematic than if they just spent another week working at the heart of the issue.

.... I feel a big bad I told you so coming when the patch comes out but I'll bite my lip for now (*nda*)

Then feel free to ignore my posts and stop telling people how they should feel or how they should react to things. I am well aware that a fix is coming, I just don't want to see a repeat of this incident in the future. It is also well documented that Apple did indeed erase posts on the Apple Discussion boards about the freezing when it first came up. They need to be held to account for this and until a fix comes I will continue to hold their feet to the fire. You can continue to reboot your iMac in blissful ignorance if you so choose.

Ignorance ROFL wow if that isn't the funniest thing I've heard. I'm one of the few (and being a recent convert I'm surprised ppl mac savy like yourself are to 'ignorant' to do this) who's machine doesn't lock up anymore. Sure I probably made an incorrect assumption as have you.

They certainly are to be held responsible, but continuing to point fingers and say "you broke it" even after they admit it's broke is childish.

You bet your posts will be ignored because childish acts like that deserved to be treated as childish acts ie., ignored and with that rational I applaud Apple for ignoring you and deleting your posts. You probably (and by judging your posts) deserve it.

I on the other hand will continue to help Apple in attempting to fix this by providing constructive feedback rather than pissing on them. I want, no, I DESERVE a fix just like everyone who bought the new iMacs deserve it. Making childish posts "Apple this, Apple that, I want my cookie, I'm telling mommy" isn't gonna make them work faster.

Good luck to you, hope you have many more posts deleted in the future because now we can all see why they were deleted.

I'm glad that you are enjoying Leopard, but with my iMac crashing literally DOZENS of times per day, I was really hoping they'd get the 1.2 update by Leopard. Well, there's still a few days left of October, I'll wait...............

I think I'll wait a bit more before upgrading to leopard. Don't wish to be in the same situation like update 1.1 which was the major problem. This time I will hold till the majority of the feedback is good.

 Take it back, that is not inline even with those who are having problems.

My posts were never deleted but others were and for no other reason than they brought up a problem. I don't enjoy haranguing Apple but I will continue to do it until I see evidence of a fix. A few people telling me "it's being worked on" is not enough. I am sorry if you feel that me complaining that my $2000 computer refuses to work is just childish but I don't see this as an issue that we can just let go. As evidence of more complaining needed has Apple even acknowledge the problems with the 7.2.1 firmware in the AirPort Extreme regarding AirDisk? No. Airport dropouts in the MacBook? No.

Too much kool-aid going around this place today.

There's nothing wrong with letting Apple know we're restless.. If nobody talks about these issues anymore, Apple will just go: "oh, they've stopped complaining, guess there's no rush anymore! *sits back drinking coffee while listening to the leaked new album of Britney Spears*"..

*Edit*
Hey look, my iMac just froze right after posting this reply.. Fun times! -_- And with it, I somehow got a new stuck pixel that wasn't there an hour ago.. In the center of my screen.. Time to concider calling AppleCare -_-

Glad to see not everyone has drunk from the punch bowl.

I figured Leopard wasnt going to fix it, as much as I might have wanted it to (dont have my copy yet).

While im here.. I didnt know Apple had deleted some posts on their forums, yet I check it fairly regularly. I can only think that they did it because perhaps there were several threads on the subject already and they didnt want multiple threads on the same subject?
Just a thought..
Theres 3 or more big threads in there right now about this, each running at well over 20 pages (I started one of them btw  Or 2 including the less epic UT2004 post)

I must admit, I do feel impatient myself about this sometimes.. But right now im trying to hold on to my faith that Apple will fix it soon. But its been 2 and a half months now already. So yeah, it does irk me still... Particularly as apple would not so much as acknowledge the issue until it started to get quite a lot of bad press on the Mac sites.

Good luck all :)

Ok, wth.. That stuck pixel I talked about in my previous post seems to not really be a stuck pixel.. It seems to be floating above the panel. I can notice this by placing a 1px thin line right next to the "stuck pixel", then when I move my head around to look at the pixel from different angles, I can see the "stuck pixel" moving over the line (showing that it's not really a pixel, but something floating above the pixelboard.. It also seems to be constanrtly moving.. Was around the center a minute ago, now it's rather close to the right edge..

Am I going mental here? Do I need more sleep? Because this really is weird..

Piece of dust behind the glass?

For what it's worth...

It seems that not everyone is having these problems. I have had my new iMac since 8/21/07. In that time, it has not frozen (and I leave it on all the time unless I am going to be away overnight), it has not crashed, it has no bad pixels, and the screen looks just about the same brightness from one side to the other.
Now, I'm not trying to start a flame war or anything but was just wondering, how many people with these issues have Windows installed with Bootcamp, parrallels, etc. I have a handfull of windows apps running but I am using crossover which means no windows installation. Is there any chance that any of these problems could be the result of people installing driver updates on the windows side? I honestly have no idea so just wanted to put it out there.

Any way to get rid of that without risking a ruined iMac?

I've not tried it myself, but I believe it is not so difficult to remove the glass. It has magnets glued on to it, which then stick themselves on to the chassis inside.
I've only seen one pict on the net of it being removed, and a kind of 'sucker' was used to pull the glass off.

Don't think so, I've had mine since august too, and I've installed bootcamp and updated the ATI drivers. I've run lots of heavy stuff under windows with only a few issues (and those are totally unrelated to the freezing issues). I've run lots of heavy stuff on the mac (like aperture, photoshop cs3, windows and linux at the same time in vmware, and some fairly heavy 3d stuff), and it's only frozen once.

To be honest, I can't see how updating a driver in windows would affect osx in any way at all, and anything serious enough to affect osx (like flashing the video bios) would probably kill osx totally rather than just cause the odd crash.
