It is- well, 300 gigs is- that is the part my PC did not see. I left 50 gigs on it in FAT so that I could use it in Parrellels- that is the part my PC saw.

I think I am going to do a fresh install and see what happens- I have BUs from yesterday on the BU drive, and that is close enough I think!

Do you have any Firewire external harddrives (like I asked before)?

it is strange that an update would do all that. I wonder how old that PNY memory is? I have seen a few others post of strange things happening with the update.

Makes me not want to do it!

OK, I ran the disk troubleshooter at Seagate- no go. So I sent Tech Support an e-mail. I will see if that helps!

I have a core 2 Duo... I bought a month or two after it came out. Mem was bought at the same time.... So nothing here is THAT old! ('Cept me!)

Sorry, I missed that one! I do, but it is NTSF (?)- whatever the Windows new thing is. Won't work on a Mac I do not think. It has 400 Gig of Music on it- do NOT want to erase that one!

OK, here is what I am going to do:

I am going to BU to my network, to the 500 Gig drive downstairs. Then I am going to wait until I hear from Seagate, see if they ahve any ideas. They say 24-48 hour response. Then I will post here with whatever they say, maybe it will help someone else out.

In the meantime- Naz, thank you VERY MUCH for getting me back to this point- at least my daughter can play on PBS Kids.org!

Update!

I got a response from Seagate- they suggest I buy their data recovery system. Hmmm... no.

I took the drive down to CompUSA. They were very nice- let me plug it into an iMac. Guess what? It showed up! That is Tiger 10.4.8. Then we tried a Macbook Pro. Drive showed up- 10.4.8.

So, my guess now is that it is something in 10.4.9. I will e-mail Apple Tech support and see what they have to say!

Hi:

Sorry- need some advice. I just went to Apple.Com to start a support ticket. I do not see how. I am under coverage, so I should have no problems. Is there an e-mail I should start with, or should I call?

Thanks!

Dave
