New imac is a dog

Hi, I've had my 27" imac for about two months..I have never had so many crashes, freezes, stuttering movie playback and general poor performance.
I have found myself going back to my G4 powerbook out of frustration.. Both my wireless mouse AND keyboard are continually losing their connection despite both having brand new batteries installed..

Being an art student with limited cash, can anyone suggest a course of action before i"m forced to send it back?
I've heard of the recalls but cant accurate info..especially on the apple sites..

Thanks

Can you not take it to your nearest Apple store. If you explain, like you have here, your problems then a Genius should do something about it.

what makes you think apple would never ever recall the iMac 27"
ok from a historic point of view its as unlikely as hell freezing , as apple didn't do a recall when they had the bad cap issues years ago, which was serious

Back on the 9th...

I had my wife ask an old friend of hers, a current Apple employee if we could use her discount for the i7. Take it for what it's worth but she said that the i7's were being recalled and on top of that she couldn't help us anyway. My take was that it was pure speculation and she didn't want to help so she was making excuses.

She was such a deterrent in fact, that I ordered my i7 iMac 20 minutes later with my meager student discount. I'm hoping that my February 24th ship date turns out to mean today but that might just be because I've been stuck on my old eMac and it's so slow. I have been dying to get a new iMac since almost a year ago when 7 gangsters stomped my head in and went into my home and took my 20 inch iMac C2D and my iBook. Luckily I had this old beast in storage.

Anyway, obviously there is a problem with the screens but I don't think they will do an actual recall, they seem intent on avoiding that term. The fact that they have consistently replaced and even given people compensation is basically saying it all.

Take it to the store, if it's doing that. I truly believe people with issues are either installing some crazy software or are suffering some freak issues with their Macs. I got my iMac in January, and it's not been turned off once since I upgraded it to 8GB DDR3 and an SSD. Runs perfectly, and hasn't crashed once.

I thought pc's were the only ones that had issues? [/sarcasm]

Definitely take it back, that is just ridiculous. Don't let the sleek looking exterior trick you into keeping it. If there is something wrong with it, you deserve your money back. Though at this point it may be too late for a refund, but at least keep swapping machines till you get one that works.
