What about New Mighty Mouse?

I wouldn't call it really an update of IMAC : ) but I think there is a chance that we might soon see new "Mighty Mouse". The current one has not be changed for at least 2 years and not only is really a device which can be described as "super ergonomic" but also its white plastic does not anymore fit to aluminum used in other components.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/3B48b Safari/419.3)

the current iMac is not that new anymore. We're already past the 4 month mark. It's true that it took about a year for the last iMac update, but that 6 or 8 months is closer to the norm. So I think we could see one well before the summer.

the only problem .. like i was told (not at this site a popular pc site that rymes wit www.neowin.net told me that if i keep waiting i will never end up buying and will still be looking for the next update... macs hold their value really well. so dont worry you sill still have a great mac come end of next year

You obviously haven't followed Apple very long. There have been several examples of Apple announcing something new at a Macworld, etc. and then stating that it would be available in 2-3 months. The most recent example I can think of (besides the iPhone which you quoted) is the Apple TV. It was announced in the fall of 06, detailed at Macworld 07, and then shipped in March.

I stand corrected. iPhone and AppleTV.

Name a recent pre-release computer announcement regarding an upgrade.

Detachable iMac. Base is a optical drive/charger/sizable drive/some connections. The screen is multitouch and goes with you wherever, wirelessly connecting when you detach from the base/charger. It has NAND drive, and some few connections for taking it far on the road.

....that's what I theorize will happen on Earth 2 in January.

Here: nothing.

IIRC, the MBP was available to order the day it was announced, it wasn't given a release date.

I guess you didn't follow the link I included from Jan 10, 2006 indicating ship date in February.
