"Despite its new ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro graphics chip, the iMac still isn't very well suited to playing 3D games. On our Quake 4 test, at a forgiving 1,024x768 resolution, the iMac turned in an only marginally acceptable 39 frames per second. We were surprised by that, since Quake 4 sits on the tail end of what we consider current 3D games. Comparable Windows PCs from Dell and Velocity Micro perform much better. You should be able to play less-advanced 3D games on the iMac, but we're still disappointed that Apple doesn't want to take gaming seriously."

Ok... new imacs and refresh mbp is out!!...

But... WTF an ATI HD 2600 Pro card?!?!... i didnt buy a macbook pro with nvidia, and guess what?!.. an ATI card and to make it worst, a low end card.

Come on.. at least they had to charge 1999, and put a decent card, for christ sake, its a desktop...

Dont get me wrong, Im a huge fan of apple, but now they s*** up!!..

Noow i or we ( many of u guys ) have to decide what to do!.. buy a nice iMac ( yes i like the new look ) with a crap video card or stick with a mbp with a decent video card.

OUCH APPLE!!....

regards,

DING DING! Wrong, it's a midrange card.

Sorry but i can't understand what you're trying to say...

We don't all need 8800 Ultra's to enjoy a 3D game.

You might want to consider that some of the people buying MBPs at the stores after setting their minds on iMacs aren't necessarily doing so because of the Graphics card but rather because they either don't like the new design or don't like the glossy screen.

The iMac is a consumer desktop..borderline prosumer. The MBP is a professional Laptop meaning people buying these machines are buying them to run FCP, Motion, Aperture Shake etc when on the road because they dont have access to their Mac Pros at the time

People buying iMacs are buying them to run Safari, Mail, Word & iLife.

In other words it makes sense for the MBP to sport a better card (still debateable IMO). If you dont like the iMac........buy a MBP like the people above. Its that simple isn't it?
