I have a imac pro, 10 core setup and I just installed the Akai midi controller drivers, restarted my computer and then now it freezes at startup with the apple logo and the progress bar showing at prolly close to 100%. Stalls for more than 30min, nothing else happens. Ive restarted, shutdown, unplugged everything and went into safe mode for first aid but still....same thing.

Any idea of what else I can do?

Did you actually remove the driver after you get into safe mode?

It's mostly likely that the Akai drivers (kext) isn't signed, so SIP is preventing the computer from booting.

You can either uninstall the driver or you can disable SIP.

Directions to diable SIP:

I had this issue when transferring from my old machine. Disabling SIP worked. ‍

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ YMMV.

I won't doubt disable SIP solve your problem, just logic behind should be reverted. SIP will prevent any unsigned kext to load to make the booting is "normal", but not stop booting to prevent unsigned kext to load.

Anyway, I totally agree that's worth to try. If disable SIP fix everything and then no matter why, it's a good work around.

I believe this is very much normal for ECC memory. My HPZ820 does that exact same thing but takes much longer to boot into windows. I think it’s to do with error checking before logging into he OS. I could be wrong... My iMac Pro takes time to startup too. Maybe not as long as you as I’m not sure I understand your delay, but longer than I’d expect.

I'm getting the same. My avatar, text input field and mouse glitch during load and interaction. Every other Apple product I have has a smooth transition but this just feels really buggy.

I am also experience dirty restarts and shutdowns when put into sleep mode. Have to restore apps, files and browser tabs every time I reawaken which is just annoying. Apple can't seem to find the problem with this so I'm tempted to send back.
